Remove em from your site and send players to partners who aren't as pushy and respect how you work. How do people handle pushy emails from managers trying to tell you how to run your website?

I am starting to get annoyed with affiliate managers sending me pushy nagging emails.
I have just received an email from one company complaining that they have only had 7 people depositing and its not good enough, this company is emailing me every 2 weeks wanting me to do something more for them! its getting to the point where I feel like i'm being told off.
I am getting 100s of unique hits from visitors looking for this company in google but I am not going to force my visitors to play at that site if they have found a better deal with another site.
I like to run a fair website for bingo companies and players and I don't appreciate being nagged at constantly.
How do people handle pushy emails from managers trying to tell you how to run your website?

Probably not a bad idea if they don't stop..
The sites I don't actually speak to earn me the most commission..
If they're pushy now, they'll be pushy again, so pushy them off... be interested to know who the site is though - wonder if it's the same one that rattled me a week or two back?Probably not a bad idea if they don't stop..
That tends to always be the case...The sites I don't actually speak to earn me the most commission..

Hey rachae1,
Just a thought....why don't you tell them they're taking the mickey? (very politely of course :blush )
Personally, this has always been one of my concerns as an affiliate manager...the fine line between being helpful & making the most of a program, ....and being pushy and upsetting people - personally I'd prefer for someone to let me know if I was "over-doing it"

I think what annoyed me was the email made me feel like I was a naughty worker with the capitalizing of some words and telling me to move their ads to places that where already filled with another company and to do it ASAP
I cant agree more. Maybe us affiliate managers should get technical and have opt-ins for emails and opt-outs so that affiliates only get emails they want to get...
It's a good job i look after all of our email marketing, so might look into this further...
What about texts?
I have to admit, I am never sure how to contact emails... text, phone call, blog, a4u, personal email, email through affiliate window...

I don't think it's so much about contact, it's about manner and understanding of the affiliate in question.
Example I had this week was "when are you going to start promoting us" - this from a company that has been sending me cheques for the last 12 months. The "affiliate manager" then proceeded to tell me nothing about the program, latest offers, promos etc, instead just complained that they didn't appear to be featured.
The good AMs out there know how to communicate effectively - will (possibly) have had a good look at the affiliate's site(s) and possibly even looked at their stats - so they can make informed suggestions to the affiliate... which is great and helpful.
From my pov, in this sector at the moment there's a mentality of "if we can't see you've got 300 banners on the page - you're not promoting us effectively" - and the manner of some trying to encourage affiliates to promote them borders on the damn right rude.
Perhaps it's a first indicator that some bingo merchants aren't performing that well, and it's a sign of desperation?

As an affiliate I dont like to be told how to run the site but I do like to receive emails on the following:
- News on recent winners
- Any events happening
- Finance reports without the pushiness
- Promotions
- Any changes on the site I need to know incase my site needs to be updated
- Informed when a banner is going to be changed so I don't have broken banners
All these things would help me promote the sites
The trouble is a lot of affiliate managers at networks etc have no interest in the business as its just their "job".....They are not trying it themselves therefore they are inherantly uninterested so will never deliver to affiliates the passion, insight and tips and service that those who get stuck in do....they do not understand their customers view and values.
I know thats a tad generalistic and not true in all cases but I think its a fair comment from personal experience.

Hi Rachel,
As an affiliate manager I can answer this question for you and advise you how to deal with managers.
1. If you are bringing the clicks the you are doing your job. It is up to the casino to convert them.
2. Ask them what their retention program is like? ask them what their Sign up vs Depositor % is.
If you are bringing clicks and people are signing up and only a handful become depositors, then the onus is on the casino to convert them not you. They must do this by e-mails and telemarketing.
3. Positioning on a website can also improve conversions, however this is like real estate, if they want a better position that will convert well, then you must get a better deal either higher rev-share or higher CPA.
4. Remember there are plenty of other options available, you do not have to work with these people.
Good luck
