Not sure if you've spotted the news, but it's worth a mention in the light of the recent changes around advertising in gambling on TV. The new Ladbrokes video has received a number of complaints and is now being investigated by the Advertising Standards Authority. It'll be interesting to see how it pans out. If using celebrities to promote gets hit, a whole load of online bingo sites are going to be scratching their heads and looking for new means of getting the brand values across.
I'm not a footy fan in the slightest, but I have to say the advert made me smile and seems fairly innocuous. Expect a result in a couple of months. You can subscribe to the adjudications here. It's a good feed, I find in interesting to see what gets complained about generally in advertising and what gets slapped. It's a shame there's nothing like the ASA for the web. With so many sites proclaiming themselves 'The best' or 'The biggest' or indeed 'The fastest growing' we could do with it. Many would be dragged out and spanked for such fibs.
Seems a little bit ridiculous, but nothing new in the crazy world of complaints, PC gone mad etc etc!
I guess if upheld, it would come down to deciding what celebrities could be construed as appealing to minors, and which ones would be "safe" to use!
