  Help with Affiliates

Sorry guys i need some help/advice.

I've just set up a new site for Betting News/Tipping. It's coming along nicely and i'm now looking for affiliates to use. Obviously, i'm hoping people will click through my site and set up accounts with merchants but this doesn't always happen. What happens if say i'm doing a write up on say Arsenal v Liverpool with a direct Link to the merchants site? - and the *customer* already has an account with that merchant - so he just logs into his account and places that bet. Do i get commission on that bet? I have spoken to a few companies who wouldn't pay anything but this is going to have an affect on what i'm trying to do. The way forward for me is to email my customers with tips and deep links directly to affiliates sites to place the bet.

I hope this makes sense and if there is any affiliates out there that can help please message me.

Hi Damian

If a player has an existing account and logs into their account you will not receive commission for that bet.

Why would you link to an affiliate's site and not to the merchant?

Hi Jamie,

Cheers for the reply, as you can tell i'm new to all this.

I don't think i explained myself correctly. I am linking to merchants sites but the problem i'm finding is my audience already have accounts with the merchants therefore i'm linking them through and they are placing a bet BUT they havent opened an account (due to already having one)

Hope this makes more sense and apologies for my ****e explanations

Damian

You will not get any commission from any player who has an account with the merchant site already, regardless of the fact that they may have gone through your site or affiliate links to end up at the merchants site. This is how it is with all affiliate programmes! You have to generate new players and thats the reason you get paid a commission. For example, if you do end up with a player who is new and they get to the merchant through you.. then usually they are logged as "your player for life".. which means no matter how that player ends up on the site in the furture no other affiliate can claim them .. they always stay yours! does that make sense? As a newbie to the affiliate world you will find this rather frustrating.. but as you build up on new players and commission checks start coming through you will feel better about it! Good Luck!

Hi MooMoo

Thanks Very much. I completely understand now and you've made things so much clearer.

That's slightly changed the way i should be marketing my site. Thanks for the info, greatly appreciated.

As a new affiliate don't be discouraged if you are not seeing depositing players with your affiliate accounts in the first few months. Affiliate marketing is a long term strategy and with you developing content you are heading in the right direction for long term success.

My advice is to be consistent
