  Optimising for Brand/Merchant name

Is this normal to make your review about a casino/bingo/poker site rank high in the search engine?

What are your thoughts as the merchant or affiliate about "stealing" traffic from the keyword search term for the sites name?

Say as an example, ABC Casino have been advertising heavly on TV recently, the affiliates review about ABC Casino ranks at #2 spot for the term "ABC Casino" so is getting a LOT of clicks/sign ups/depositors from the ABC offline promotions.

Would you as the merchant review the affilaites account and reduce their earnings because this traffic isnt from there own efforts but a gain from the offline promotions you the merchant has done.

Would you as an affiliate take a reduced rev share because you are gaining from their offline promotions?

Hi,

Great questions...

We don't do as much TV advertising as some bingo sites out there but it would seem to me that if that affiliate has gone to the effort to write a great review that is optimised to such a degree to rank highly on our brand then they should not be penalised.

I'd much rather that I had all of my affiliates in the top pages on google than a competitor who is optimising their site for our brand name and loose out on traffic all together.

Also there are various factors that come into the conversion like, did the player click on the affiliate site because they wanted a third party oppinion of our site after seeing the ad on TV?

There's loads of factors we could go into but I think the bottom line is that, no we would not reduce an affiliates commission based on our TV coverage.

It's good point.

We usually include a promo code in our offline campaigns so that kind of help in tracking the campaigns correctly.

But no, we would never lower the affiliate's commission who has brought players from his website during the campaign. First of all, we cannot prove that it's the TV campaign or any other offline activity that was a dominant factor. Also, maybe it would spark an interest in a potential player, but it could be a great review that will convince him to deposit and play.
