  Your start in affiliate marketing

So, what was it that made you become an affiliate?

A friend who did it? Were you a player in online gaming?

Would love to hear about your experiences!

Re: Your start in affiliate marketing

For me it was when I clicked a link through to a retailer's website and noticed that there was some 'weird long-winded' url in the bottom left of the browser and I decided to look into it further and see what it was.

I probably clicked through to a tradedoubler merchant and instead of the link going directly to dell.com (or whatever it was) it went via tracker.tradedoubler.com/blah-blah and so I decided to enter tradedoubler.com into the browser to see if I could see what tradedoubler was - "et voila!"

p.s. don't know if the OP meant to post this in the Casino & Gaming Vertical

I started my affiliate business when I saw my little brother of 13 making more money than I . He had a couple of GPT sites (Get Paid To) and promoted especially money campaigns. When he showed me his bankstatemenets I could not believe my eyes . So that was for me the moment to enter the lucrative world of affiliate marketing

Re: Your start in affiliate marketing

I had a satnav in my car and everyone who came in the car with me was so impressed they went out and bought a satnav.

Having worked in sales for 10 years I spotted an opportunity to make money from satnav systems. My main concern was that I identified that I didn't want to hold lots of stock and I needed to reach a mass market as quickly as possible.

I had always been interested in the internet and, through a career which had seen sales being conducted on a 1-1 basis the opportunity to move to a 1-many position was really appealing as it allowed me to leverage my time.

A guy I shared an office with said something about "my mate says Amazon pay commission if you sell their stuff through your website" and the rest is history as they say!
