  domain name valuation www.creditSmart.co.uk ....HELP

hi guys, first time in here so be gentle

There is no exact catagory for this query so as most of the credit card affiliations are from CJ then here goes, I have just spent nearly 6 weeks pulling together all the info etc. for a credit card/loans etc. related site, www.creditSmart.co.uk, (holding page there now!) I have just paid a web designer, sign writer etc...... and today I got a letter from experian (as in , experian credit reference company) asking if I want to sell the domain name...

to be honest I have only just got around to doing anything with the domain name which I have had for the last 2 years and only just renewed, I have 2 questions,

1) what kind of income is it possible to earn...realistic, from this kind of site (I Have been funding it as a hobby project) so whatever I earn is income from virtually day one. I have signed up for several affiliations CJ, Be Free, affiliatefuture etc. and so far have a few loan companies and debt management companies on board too. I will be looking to do my own affiliation/banner ad campaign via espotting (I think), to get started.

2) any idea on how much to ask for the name if I decide to sell it,

I curious as to what you guys would value it at but at the same time I am inclined to keep it to be honest as I have thrown about 6 weeks at it so far but then again I am sure I could get another name easily to get behind with a tidy sum from experian if they want to buy creditsmart.

thanks if you can help.....
show me the money..nah hold on keep it....wait no...show me the money...damn..HELP !!

Interesting.

Welcome to the board.

First thing to say is that the credit card / finance market is very hard to crack. The competition is intense. Very intense. I say that as I have been trying to crack it now for quite some time!

However if you are going to fund it through careful analysis of the ROI via espotting then it certainly could be profitable.

BTW if you are going to sign up to espotting you can do so here:

www.espotting.com/Adverti...alTypeID=1

(shame on me for adding my affily link

Right back to the point, the domain.. I could only hazard a guess here. I suppose it depends how badly experian want the domain. Perhaps they have a project in their midst? who knows. Credit card and finance domains are to be honest all snapped up (good ones anyway) so don't make a rushed decision.

I think a few of the other members have experience in this area so I'll leave a price figure to them - bear in mind that Experian are a massive company and to them a thousand here or there is nothing.

Thanks

Yeah I am a little torn to be honest, it has been a long term, on off thing and finally when I throw myself in to it and get virtually all the damn work done someone comes along and says
hmmm...err "would you consider a transfer of ownership?"

I have no ideal whatsoever to ask for it, and I certainly don't want to venture a figure to them first,

I really would appreciate it if some of you guys would leave me some figures (based on knowledge rather than pity ...lol) to mull over.

well anyway...it is the first night I have been in here (6 weeks searching google...with the word affiliate etc) and I found it by accident searching something else lol.. but I am hooked and had initially considered affiliation as a way to pay the hosting fees and that was it but boy is it bigger than I anticipated...

thanks if you can help ...

Why not let them make you an offer, and then consider your options? That way you can figure out if they are serious, and if it is worthwhile selling or holding on.

btw, welcome to the board!

thanks

I am at a dynamic stage (have been off work on full pay for 2 months, injured (am not a policeman with stress...OK..! lol)) at the moment so I have all the time I need but I am about to go back and if I am going to make a go of the site then I want to get on with it.....I have all the pages etc ready to go...but I have not paid for them yet...only if I use them do I have to, but the signwriter has to be paid and I got 20, 8 foot printed colour banners on the way....argh amongst other things)

I think I would have to be offered about 10 grand at the moment to entice me to drop...is that outragous ? I have no clue, but that is the kind of figure that I have come to, I think that the name has an intrinsic value as you gonna know what it is about if your IQ is above that of a red setter, and I done about 6 weeks of late nights pulling all the info together..coupled with what I already know bout the potential earnings of affiliation I think it would have to be this much.

anyway what do you guys think....is 10 grand a totally way out figure...?

all comments welcome ...thanks
