  VAT included

just noticed that UK credit cards are stating commission includes VAT. Did they always say that this is the first i saw that. Excuse me but before when we were paid in dollars didnt that mean VAT was not included? So are they now tagging the vat to something that wasnt there before?

CJ are saying its a mistake by the advertisers. They said the advertisers werent sure if they were paying VAT or not so just included it to be safe. GO FIGURE! Anyway basically there is no VAT included no matter what the advertiser says. Im sure the inland revenue will be happy with that explanation.

This is a problem waiting to happen. They have a UK office, we market UK advertisers, they now pay in £££.

To say it is tenious that they claim to be "Outside of the scope of VAT" is an understatement.

It wont be long before HCE make a move on this in my opinion.

Think they may well still get away with it.

One of our clients has a large office in Southampton, a tiny office in Jersey (one person for one hour a week) - yet because all invoices go to Jersey and all payments 'come' from there (and from a Jersey bank account which I suspect is significant) - they pay no VAT.

We, and they have had a VAT audit and HCE did nothing as 'the point of origin of payment is outside of UK jurisdiction'

Well that makes me feel a bit better. But really there are enough problems without them making things ambiguous like this.

I agree. Can also see problems, given google etc have now been forced to charge VAT.

If CJ are forced to pay VAT will we see an exodus of the Gambling Merchants given there will be no benefit of staying with them?

There is another thread where this is being discussed

http://www.a4uforum.co.uk/showthread...threadid=19403

I wish I could find the posts where this has been mentioned before but I think they were on the old forum which is now no longer available.

Any mods around can you see if you can dig them out ?

I know for a fact there are people out there who are having to pay vat on CJ stuff due to regional variations Ie vat officers in their area refusing to accept there is no vat because they are marketing UK advertisers.

The old forum is still around

if you want a trip down memory lane....

Although one of the big problems with the old way is that the search facility is quite poor so not sure if you will be able to find what you are after.

Bingo

Many thanks chaps. Found two of them. There are more but these are the important ones, including one where the guys is saying he has to pay vat.

Now at least people dont think I have made it up or gone mad. For any interested links are below. There are more, but as has been already said the search facility on the old board is crap, and I dont feel like spending hours looking for all of them !
