Flybe changing to 1%

Got email about this earlier.

After talks of a possible "raise" in commission, this is a little disappointing, but last time I added up the value of all the tickets, it looked like I was getting about 1% anyway.

Wish they'd cut the bull about the fuel prices though - we know margins are tight for airlines, but if they saw us as advertising opportunities, rather than "agents", they'd realise we're still very good value, compared to the 4.3% they typically pay out to newspapers (typical rant....)

Our average for August so far is 1.8% therefore this is an effective halving of commission.

It's things like this that really make you look into a merchant more deeply and I now realise that we're earning less than 2p per click from them. Pants!

This will now reduce to under 1p per click!!

And I bet the 1 percent is minus the tax and credit card fees!
Since some fares are £0.00, you stand to make a lot.

Would be better to pay a set amount per sector.

Just looking at my August stats, I reckon this will result in a reduction of about 25% in comms. It would be nice if they made up for this difference with a performance incentive for their larger affiliates - I sent them almost 200 bookings last month

Hmmm ... seems lately that the only way to get through to airlines is to strike ...

... maybe we should follow suit? Why don't we add "free donuts" into the list of demands though - the baggage handlers missed that one ......

At the end of the day, they are only reducing payment, they aren't pulling out. After pressure earlier in the year, Flybe cancelled their planned suspension - this is much better than Barclaycard have done.

What we do need to show the airlines is that we represent good value to them relative to other media sources, and that if they paid us more, we'd send them even more traffic.

Be glad, Flybe are the only major UK no frills airline so far to have seen the sense in affiliate marketing.
