  Barclaycard having a laugh

Can you believe barclaycard (though on past performance I suppose we shouldn't be surprised!)

They're getting too many applications so they've changed their CJ commission to pay a whopping £2 per application - woohoo

Talked to stuart today and basically by the sounds of it Barclaycard would have totally cut their scheme totally if they weren't under some contract T&C to CJ.

Looks like it's a "£2 is better than nowt" view that we've got to suck up, personally I wouldn't take it cos if we do then it's a case of "well they took £2 before.. so let's just keep paying that" or only a lesser amount of what it previously was.

Barclaycard have pulled all online advertising across the board (except where contracts mean they gonna get slapped) as they have run out of budget for online.

Shame of it is that you can bet your granny's a$$ they'll still be sending out a forest full of glossy flyers now and defo for xmas and the new year which convert worse than a "tony blair was right to invade iraq" support poll.

hey ho.. least you still have a choice, CJ got the T&C's in place and Barclaycard have to provide some sort of scheme for now so fair dues to CJ for not letting them off the "cease with immediate effect" hook lol.

The thing is are you going to take £2 ?? I won't but that's me..

£4 was bad enough but £2 is a joke.

Their links are coming down as soon as I get chance.

Let me understand this right, a publicly listed company is stopping a program because it's successful? Wonder what the shareholders would make of that.

Good point - when's the Barclay's AGM? It only takes one person with one share to attend and ask that question for them to have to do something about it.

Not really enough of my field though, I really should go and buy myself one easyJet and one Ryanair share though.

Or another thought - what if we sent them to our own landing page, saying something along the lines of:

"The fat cats have had all the cream today, so Barclaycard don't need to take any more online applications. Please try again in a few weeks' time"

Isn't this why we need the UKAA?

before we all slaughter Barclaycard (and I'd be the one hacking away with the blunt knife based on past actions of theirs lol) we should take into account three things

1) they don't have to have an affiliate scheme.

2) they can pay what they want to (but we don't have to take it )

3) they can stop and start as and when they like (unless T&C'd in a contract, then they just pay crap hoping we wont bother, and if we do then are they going to open the doors at £4 when they get a new budget ?? hmmm errr you guess)

ok voice of reason above now over, yeah they do deserve a slap for totally amateur management of their budget that led to no advanced notice,

Annoying thing is they'll be advertising offline still and it's conversion must be a mere percentage of what it's online is, and the CPA will be £££ more

big corporates.. don't ya just love em eh...

anyone who sticks with this program under those terms will be killing the market for every other program. Why would an advertiser pay more than £2 a sale let alone a lead if barclaycard get away with this. I thought Tony Blair was stamping down on street muggings?

I didn't bother with their program at £4.00 cpa, so they're really having a laugh cutting it to £2.00 cpa, does that make them the lowest payers in their industry?
