Cj payments are zero rate or vat exempt. I would suggest you ask CJ, or get legal advice.

Theyre "outside the scope of VAT" as their billing is out of the US.

This is technically not the same as exempt or zero rated

here we go again...

CJ have a UK office.....
many advertisers state their payment includes VAT
do you target UK broswers?
some affiliates already pay VAT

as grey areas go this is as grey as it gets!

We have informed the VAT office to look into further and ascertain clarification of any VAT liabilities for either network, affiliate or merchant.

If paid in $, then on your vat return you need / must calculate all reverse charges and include them in the appropiate boxes, which would apply to any sales & purchases outside the UK & EU.

if anyone owes VAT its CJ!

you must charge VAT on your bills to UK customers but the reality is we dont bill CJ, they pay us a fee for sending them traffic...

This one rumbles on and on.......

I cant really add any thing to what ashagplz and OLBG have said.
As far as CJ are concerned they are outside the scope of VAT.

CJ were originally in a very strong position on this. Unfortuantely they have erroded this position significantly for the reasons already mentioned.

I just hope we dont end up with the Vat man trying to claw back the cash from us at some point. I have left it so I am paid in $ (on advice of my accoutant)

as i understand it..dont rely on the advice of an accountant..this area requires a VAT specialist....

my own route has included removing all programs on cj where a UK and VAT paying company is running the same program...it at least reduces as future liabilities...
