Question Question about a charity site

Hi,

I wonder if anyone can shed some light on an email I have just received from CJ, I am running two web sites for a local animal charity on since 1999 www.animals-in-distress.net which is an informational site with some affiliate links on it I joined up with CJ in 2000. In 2006 I started the site www.helpinganimalsindistress.co.uk aand just tagged it on to the account I already had as I was told I could.

I received an email today with regards to the second site (helpinganimalsindistress) which stated

Dear Warmbells Holly Tanglepaws,

Review of your account and its traffic indicates the use of promotional method(s) in which Commission Junction, as detailed in the Publisher Service Agreement, deems as special and requires an immediate update of your account.

http://www.helpinganimalsindistress.co.uk

Charity site

An accurate incentive/special program description is required to operate in the CJ Marketplace. Therefore, you must update your account by going to the Account tab, Web site Settings and Incentive/Special Program. Please verify that your account has been properly flagged as an Incentive/Special Program by clicking on the edit box and marking the “yes” field. Then provide an incentive/special program description in the space provided. Include as much detail as possible regarding your program. If software is involved, include information regarding distribution, branding, un-installation, and end user signup to services provided by this software. If you are using third party services and/or publishing links on third party sites (sites that you do not own or operate), provide a list of service providers and sites associated with such provider.

If your account is already flagged as an Incentive/Special and an updated description is required please reply to this e-mail and include as much detail as possible regarding your program. If software is involved, include information regarding distribution, branding, un-installation, and end user signup to services provided by this software. If you are using third party services and/or publishing links on third party sites (sites that you do not own or operate), provide a list of service providers and sites associated with such provider. Once this information is received Network Quality will update your account.

After this information is updated, all of your program’s advertiser affiliations will be set to “pending” and must first be re-approved by individual advertiser(s) in order for tracking to resume.

Furthermore, your current or pending payout(s) are on hold until your program gets updated correctly. Realize that upon notice of special program update, advertisers may choose to reverse unpaid transactions, thus it is imperative that you provide a detailed and accurate incentive/special program description.

Please respond by replying to this specific e-mail within five days of delivery date. If you are reading this notice through your CJ Account Manager (Mail tab) and do not have access to the e-mail notice, please respond using Ask a Question, available through the “Contact Us” lik available in account manager, and include this original message. Failure to respond may result in Commission Junction exercising its right to terminate the Commission Junction Publisher Service Agreement upon 15 days of this written notice.

Sincerely,

Network Quality
------------------------------------

I do not use any incentives and do not use any software except for the program which builds the site, I have a number of affiliate accounts with other companies and none of these have mentioned Incentive/Special Program at any time. I am very confused as they have never in 7 years asked this about the original site which is also a charity site.

Thanks

Gerald

Re: Question about a charity site

Your site is definitely an incentive site. You are stating that by shopping through your links people will help animals in need. This is creating an incentive for people to use your affiliate links.

As you state yourself your original site is simply an information site which would not have fallen under the incentive category. When you added on your incentive/charity site you should have added this to your CJ information. There's not much of a question here, probably you should be happy they don't withdraw any commission you have made through the incentive site.
