Formal Request to Commission Junction UK

After careful consultation between the moderators, this is a polite formal request to Commission Junction to ascertain which programs within your network have closed brand bidding groups, and ask to please submit these to the forum & include within the merchant information details within their own interface.

This will assist towards transparency & a fairer environment for affiliates.

Please could you also confirm that you don't do any ppc at network or employee level, or at least don't make themselves members of closed groups at the same time?

We'd be grateful if you could supply this information and help alleviate some of the issues that have arisen due to closed group activity.

Thank you for your co-operation.

Re: Formal Request to Commission Junction UK

Hi

Just to confirm the CJ position on this as requested:

We work with advertisers and publisher to build online strategies that work for all concerned. This does mean that on the odd occasion it works for an advertiser to get greater coverage on their search by working with a small number of publishers, with brand usage.

What we can not do however is to post the details of who this programs are openly here on a forum. We work closely with all concerned to make sure that they are getting the most out of affiliate marketing, and this means that what we know about programs is confidential information between us, the advertiser and any publishers operating. Divulging this would be in breach of confidentiality in our Advertiser Service Agreement. Of course, I appreciate that you have asked for openness so I will today pass on this thread to the merchants we work with who are running closed groups to ask them to post details about their closed program if they are happy to do so.

In terms of our approach to in house PPC, we do not operate anything on any such basis. ValueClick (the parent company of CJ) staff are not allowed to earn money as a publisher – this is a contractural staff obligation.

I hope this helps provide some degree of clarity. If you have any questions then please feel free to contact us directly.

Regards

Re: Formal Request to Commission Junction UK

Hi Fraser

Having an Open Policy, not allowing brand, etc will normally be clearly flagged. The request is specifically for Merchants that operate a closed group. Having a closed group is something that only a merchant can reveal (or authorise us to reveal).

We are asking our merchants that operate such a closed group if they are happy to disclose this.

Regards
Matt
