I received the following email from Expedia this morning:

<blockquote><strong><em>Quote:</em></strong><hr>
The Expedia advertiser program has chosen to remove inactive publishers
from its Commission Junction account in order to optimize its performance.

As your publisher account has not generated a sale for this advertiser
within the last three months, your relationship with Expedia will be
terminated within 7 days. If you wish to promote Expedia in the future,
please reapply to the program and your application will be reviewed as a new
publisher.
My last Expedia sale was a couple of weeks ago, and I've had several in the last three months.

So if they've mistakenly dropped me, they've probably done the same with other people too.

I've emailed Expedia, so hopefully they'll sort it out before the seven days is up.

Dropped as well
Don't think i've had many sales with them though but it was one of the things I had been hoping to improve.
Can't see what harm my traffic was doing them but I'm not too bothered - just a pain having to change my links back to eBookers

Me also.. But not to worried as I only ever made 2 whole sales.. I think it's all due to this open market place stuff.. They drop affiliates so they can have better-looking results for the to affiliates in the program and so hope to attract other top affiliates.

Then again it could be down to cost.. I take it they pay for all the banners we show (I only do text links with them) so if your showing to many without a sale then they will of course not want to be paying out for the banner farm types.

I still think that 1 sale is 1 sale more than no sales, so why drop anyone that makes a few sales, I don't understand.. Unless it costs them money in that case I can understand that.

Got the e-mail as well, surely some mistake.

I'm not a super affiliate however there has been a few sales in the period they say I've been dormant.

Just received the following email from CJ:
<blockquote><strong><em>Quote:</em></strong><hr>
You may have received the following message from the Commission Junction client services team. Please ignore this message. As you are an active publisher you will NOT be removed from the programme
Me also, glad they checked.. but like I said only 2 sales so far from super active, but at least as I can stay I might as well work on turning that figure in to one that heads upwards.

I too got cancelled - sent traffic no conversions.

Do they pay for banners shown? I can understand the cancellation if so. But if not then they are getting FREE advertising on a lot of sites which could develop into sales.

Someone has to pay for the banner shows as after all this is data transfer and data transfer is not free.. Might be getting cheaper but still one of the most expensive parts of most online set-ups.

I can only guess you pay a higher monthly administration fee if for example you show 10 million banners a month as it would be unfair to charge the guy who shows 10,000 banners the same. Of course I am talking about merchants paying this fee in case someone takes it wrong

Then again with the over ridding commission on CJ at 30% (got to love the margins) .. They might not pay for data transfer on banners.. However as merchants pay something like 3c per email to us that lands in our mailbox, I kind of have the felling data transfer from banners is mixed into the pricing at some stage.

If for example you where to show 1 million adverts from one of my sites and never made a sale.. I would be thinking about terminating you as the cost per month would out weight what you bring in.. Of course if you showed a million adverts without a sale I would expect you to terminate me first so to speak LOL

As soon as I got the email I knew it was rubbish, would seem cj's software has a mind of its own lately.. Ive had three or four from different publishers recently.. none of whom had actually dropped me.

Still don't understand the logic as companies used to pay to get banners shown and to get them clicked. Brand awareness and all that.

Like everyone else, I received the email dropping me from the Expedia program. I the received an apology, and told that it was a mistake. I now notice that my status is "Not Joined" as of today!
