Hi,
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. I've let match.com know and as soon as we hear something back, I'll post with any findings.
Best,

Im posting this here as I know it'll get picked up by the search engines a lot quicker and therefore remedial action may actually take place.
The new match.com is crashing windows xp using IE - doesnt happen with firefox - but it's persistent. Have tried with various different scenarios and it's happening every time.

Many thanks
I think it's java related. It's working fine in XP as long as you use firefox for me. It could well be a clash with other software eg firewall/anti virus but, either way, it's definitely happening.
Hi Gunneradt
Thanks for bringing this to our attention - our customer service team are looking into it and I will post back a response asap.
Thanks
Simon
Hi Gunneradt
I've spoken to our customer service team. They've not been able to replicate the issue but they have had literally a couple of calls about this in the past. Once the user updates IE or Firefox, this issue tends to go away. it does not appear to be a major issue, but thank you for bringing it to our attention.

It's nothing to do with updating IE, I can assure you. Im running the very latest version and updates.
It has only happened since they upgraded the site - looks like they havent tested their release properly. Hopefully users who find their pcs crashing will find this thread and understand why - and that match.com couldn't be bothered to rectify it.
Hi
Like I say, we have tried to replicate it and not managed to. Our customer service team are aware of it and are keeping their eyes and ears open. It's not a case of 'not being bothered to rectify it' I can assure you.
Thanks
Simon

I really wish match and dating direct wouild get their acts together. Aside from this technical fault, they are both so poor. Im guessing the recent merger is because subscribers are thin on the ground for both sites. If they came clean and deleted or showed which profiles were which ie which users had which level of subscription, then they may be taken seriously.
Their customer services are shocking and poorly trained technically also. Until they clean up their act I doubt either site will be a success.
I have same problem. I use IE8, Sophos and that's all. I am not going to install Firefox, so match.com GOOD BYEEEEEEEEE
well - they can't say I didn't warn them - Im glad that the search engines have allowed users to find this problem
I'm writing this here, because I think it's more likely to get noticed than if I contact match.com directly (which I have done, twice).
This is why the new design of their site is absolute crap. This of course reflects only the way I use the site, but I like to think that I am representative of many users.
1. Right click and "open in new tab" sometimes doesn't work- to view profiles, you have to navigate away from the "My match" screen.
2. Where the f*ck has the email trail gone? One of the best things about the old site was that you could easily review all your messages to/from one user. The summary of "she sent 4 email, you sent 3 emails" was also very good, and is no longer present.
3. Even if it is present, there is so much stuff on each and every page that it's buried amongst loads of other things that is of no interest.
4. Far too many ways of accessing your messages- i.e., using the tab at the tob, the link at the side. Neither of which is particularly well positioned. The most logical way of reading a message from a user is to click the link below the picture on the "Your connections" slider, which says "she emailed you". Clicking the blue writing does nothing- despite blue traditionally being the colour of a link in HTML.
5. Deleting "she winked at you" on the "my connections" slider doesn't necessarily repeat the deletion in the "my winks" tab from the top. What utter crap.
6. When writing a new email, the empty box puts one carriage return and one space in before you've typed anything. There is no flashing cursor in the "write message" box, meaning it's damn near impossible to delete these random additions.
7. Want to send an email with no subject? Think again buster. Subject is required. Why not just have a default value of "no subject"?
8. Georeferencing in the search function is unclear- is it based on full postcode, or just the first part? Trial and error teaches me that it's just the first part. Putting the second part in cocks up your search results.
9. Getting rid of the linked international database was a huge mistake. One of the very best things about the "old" match.com was that as a UK subscriber, I could contact subscribers in any other country without any bother at all. Now, to meet a girl from the USA, I'd need to create a profile on the USA site and subscribe seperately. Good marketing? No, because I can't be bothered to create 2 identical profiles and subscribe twice. You'd have been better charging an extra £1 a month to connect with international members. Oh, and not f*cking around with the design of the site.
10. Customer service and technical "support" consists of copy-and-pasting standard emails back to users, rather than addressing specific concerns.
In a nutshell, you took something that worked and you f*cking fixed it. A couple of mates of mine at work are also members, and the one thing we all agree on is that the new design is rubbish, difficult to use and... here's the main thing... it's much rarer to receive replies to emails now than it was before. I suspect that many existing users have been put off by the new design and have stopped logging in.
If you want to see a well designed dating site, go and take a look at OKCupid.com. That is everything that match.com should be striving to become. The advantage with match.com over OKC would be that, as a pay-site, members are slightly more serious and want value for money (so are more likely to use the site, reply to emails, connect with other members, etc etc.).
Another thing I'm miffed about is the way match.com automatically renewed my subscription, having kept my card details on file. That was not authorised, and you refused to refund me my subscription saying that I had "used the service in the charged period". Of course I used it- you charged me for it! Never mind that I didn't authorise the charge. I'm sure that if I complained to my card issuer, the charge would be refunded and you would eventually bear that cost.
Hi
This is an affiliate forum, not a place for customer service conversations. If you PM me your contact details, I will be happy to ask one of our customer service representatives to contact you and discuss your views on the website with you.
Thanks very much
Simon
Yes, but it is in the public interest that the issues with the site are brought to light. Using the site now, I will now add to the above list:
11. "my favourites"- after spending a while looking for it, I click it. The favourites window opens up, and yet again there is no possibility to right click and open-in-new-tab.
12. Once a search has been performed, there is no possibility to sort the results by distance or last online.
