seems unless I am stoopid that citibank have decreased their bank account from $25 per app to $22 without explanation or an option to accept it..

I logged in to note one I did today was only $22, and in the merchant details panel it says $22 from 26/11/2003

I wasn't offered this new lower rate at all, it represents a 12% decrease in commission.

I hope it's a mistake cos I aint into decreasing commissions at all.. methinks there will be a spare place on some pages come monday if it's right..

Im sure they sent mail out.

Anyway Im more bothered about how to market this account.. because the old one offered dollors and euros and other things.. but this new one is just a standard account.

It doesnt seem worth bothering about for $22. First direct is easier to sell.

Are you talking about the direct account - didnt they swap the creatives etc for premier account for the direct one?

We have had no such commission decrease on this program so maybe its a oversight.

Chris replied to my email promptly (which makes a change for most CJ merchants)

He said they swapped the creatives over automatically and lowered the commission to $22 cos they figured that they are easier to move than the premier account, thus it isn't a case of downgrading the commission, the idea was you will move more of the direct accounts cos they are less stringent in the application criteria.

hmmmmm a bank account is a bank account and they aint that easy to shift, people swap a credit card quite regularly but bank accounts change probably once every 3-5 years now I bet if that.

You are right; it's very difficult to get people to change bank accounts. They were saying on BBC News 24 that most people maintain the same bank account at the age of 30 that they had when they were students. No matter how lucrative the rates from the competition, people are too apathetic to shift.
