eBay Australia started paying for active leads and bids in September 2003, its only a matter of time before the UK and Canada follow, what does this mean for you!

Aren't the lead fees likely to be harder and harder to get as more and more people are already registered at eBay?

We have never bothered to promote eBay seriously as I imagine they have millions of members already and, with a lead fee, we could be earning nothing for referring people to them.

What do people think?

My opinion is simple: if you're making eBay money, you should get a cut, whether that person is:

1. A new customer.
2. Pushing up the bid prices by making a bid.
3. Listing an item for sale.

So my preferred structure would include payment for any of those three actions (or all three if applicable).

Ebay UK have recently decided to put 3m into offline campaigns and are advertising for a market insight manager - whatever one of them is.

(I think it was 3M - can't find the article right now)

Its quite a powerful thing they've got going - no market competition to speak of and people are now using it to earn a living.

(I do wonder if the tax & vat man runs through ebay looking for people he doesn't recognise)
