Sorry need to add that Todd Crawford is very vocal on abestweb

Perhaps Susan K (A really nice woman, deep respect) who pops in here every now and then could comment?

Sorry Jess, Todd was spoken to personally at CJU in Santa Barbara September 2003 where he was most dismissive of the subject.

CJ make a point of not replying to any issues raised on the forum, in fact inho they make a point of rarely replying to any enquiry, be it email or telephone call.

any network that ignores the concerns of thier sources of income (clients or affiliates in this case) will have their days numbered.

In this industry it is so easy to move your business (links or contracts) to another supplier.

It is totally feasable that any network (if they don't listen to these groups) could end up loosing 80%+ of their revenue in any given month - if we so choosed.

Julie: I know what Todds stance is on this subject, I merely said that he was very vocal on abestweb and he is a spokes person for CJ, so in answer to QGJ post... you may get a better response from Todd re CJ's stance on that website rather then this. Susan is responsible for the UK side of things and I know she will be reading these postings sooner or later.

But judging by the postings on abestweb, you are right!
And I agree with getvis, this will ultimately damage the affiliate marketing industry if this is not sorted out.

With the current selection of pro active networks who have shown empathy and integrity by making moves to become totally free of dodgy wares.....

...Do the ones lagging behind think we will be swapping back to them so readily when they finally realise they have to rid themselves of this problem as we are swapping links as fast we can as comparative merchants become available on scumware etc free networks

I for one rarely change links just based on price so once I do change I would take some severe persuading back... and based on a "we are alright feck u affiliates" attitude I wouldn't be forgetting about who was last to do the right thing

so the ones lagging behind are only making money now at the expense of doing it later methinks.

Strange isn't it that the other UK networks have either banned the scumware affiliates or stated their opinion, but CJ haven't.

Is it apathy on their part? I'd say that it is total disrespect for their partners! Why - well I know for a fact that a member of their staff was browsing this forum Friday lunchtime - did they bother to even acknowledge this thread? NO.

    So what can be done?

HOW ABOUT REMOVING ALL YOUR CJ LINKS IMMEDIATELY AND EMAILING THE MERCHANTS CONCERNED TO ADVISE THEM WHY.

You're right it's totally disrespectful, but how long have we known this.

I think you'll find that a number of affiliates are already in discussion with various merchants. We have even received calls, totally un-instigated by ourselves, saying they were looking at changing networks from both the aforementioned network and one or two others.

Whatever the network, if affiliates can do their bit by contacting as many of their merchants as possible (again whichever relevant network). Quite a few merchants will provide the necessary leverage, at this stage in the industry it's not something a guilty network can ride out and weather, they've been getting away with it for too long and the gatecrashing is over.

CJ called our office, asking why our revenue with them was rapidly declining, someone here mentioned along the lines of malcious software, lack of trust, too many outstanding problems. The only shame is that it's the merchants who unduly suffer.

From hearing on the grapevine, there is going to be one network left who hasn't noticeably accomplished anything in relation the matter.

But, its one thing being vocally opposed to it, it's another getting it written into the T & C's protecting affiliates and merchants and making sure the network is financially accountable if they waiver.

What networks fail to realise is that by tackling the problem more actively and vocally with trade bodies, organisations and relative publications could quite easily create some magnificent PR for themselves whereby to most others apart from the educated and well informed (meaning those who know best like members of this forum) would be deemed as the leaders in the industry.

Are networks too blind to grasp this wonderful opportunity to be seen as THE TRUSTED NETWORK in the industry? or more appropiately THE PIONEER.

Just been speaking with a merchant on CJ and they said that earlier this year CJ approached them asking if they would like to work with WhenU!

So, Is CJ recruiting merchants to work with WhenU?

What do you make of that?

Apart from banging one's head against a brick wall, what do folks feel are the chances of open dialogue with CJ?

You'd probably have more chance of converting the Pope to paganism!
