    Hi all,

I just received a 1487863: Commission Junction account inquiry - software questionnaire via email.

Now I haven't had one of these before - does everyone get them?

    One of the questions is:

"2. Do you currently use software clients or purchase advertising through third parties which utilize software clients"

Before I can answer I need to know what a "software client" is
but I don't buy any advertising.

The questionaire sounds serious - respond within five days... etc. I have
been with CJ a while and haven't had one before so it's a bit wierd.
None of the questions seem to apply to what I do anyway

    Any ideas anyone?

    Many thanks in advance.

    Cheers

    Steve

My impression is that they're asking you if you use "adware". i.e. via Claria, WhenU, Direct Revenue.

These (with various degrees of honesty) load software on to machines and basically monitor internet usage. If a user goes to a page which is in their database they'll serve ads.

There are basically two ways an advertiser is added:

    1) Via a direct relationship as with traditional media i.e. media owner goes to adware company and says "promote our products/services please"; or,
    2) Indirectly. Adware company joins as an affiliate by either being honest about who they are with adware supporting networks or secretly by providing incorrect publisher data i.e. false company names etc.

Perhaps they believe you fall into the second category.

They may see an unusually high degree of activity or an exceptionally high/ low conversion rate.

Some times if people use something like Webtrafficmax (pop-unders, expired domain redirects etc) or similar you may may create a level of mechant page impressions that they believe may not be able to be achieved legitimately.
Do you have products for review on my chocolate reviews or Easter eggs blog?s PM me.

    Hi,

Many thanks for the reply and info - was a little worried I guess.
Certainly don't do any of the things you mentioned or anything remotely
dodgy. Just basic links off my own site or tools I have created - no paid
advertising just five years of hard work to build up the traffic and positions
    on google.

Strange though as they would have seen the revenue go up slowly -
wouldn't have thought it looked unusual and not really high amounts
compared to some on here (I guess) .

Anyway thanks for the info will be able to reply now.

    Cheers

    Steve
