So what do we do then?
Do we need to do this in the UK? or is it just US (SSN or EIN) ?
*bump* just got one 2, was gonna ask the same.

Seems like a a W-8BEN form is some sort of web form for people named Ben. And I'm not called ben.![]()
BeFree ask for silly stuff aswell but payment has been fine.
Why do people have to start changing things?
Also - note to CJ staff
When consulting people of the United Kingdom could you please speak in English and not Yank. i.e explain what these American things are when you ask for them.
Actually. Come to think. I think Advertising.com asked for something similar but only if you live in the US.
Typical yank thing.
Think they own the world and if you dont like that they will bomb you etc etc.
As for the W8-BEN form its some kind of tax requirement that CJ have to apply by. You wouldnt want CJ to tax your comission as income now would you.
there is a treaty between uk and usa that we dont tax there citizens if they dont tax ours or some stuff like that.
if we do need to fill it out some tips on how it's filled out from a UK perspective would be very handy![]()
think this is the fella I filled out so the the US Gov't knows that the earnings CJ send me are external to the US and I'm not based there - or was that another form?
I sent mine off a couple of months ago. From what i found out it just confirms that you are not a US citizen and don't have to abide bt US tax laws.......thats what i thought!!
Take Care
Carol
ok- i'm confused...(s'not difficult!)
didn't have to do one for Amazon.com or is that a completely diff kettle of fish?
Don't see why i need to fill in an irs form when its the inland rev that get their mits on my money...
Need clarification & coffee... :x
I've filled in various ones for different companies over the time.
However I thought my main CJ account had already had one, so am now confused about whether to fill one in now or not.
Easier just to fill one in I spose...
Just emailed CJ about what to put in that SSN thingy box on the account page.....i sent my form ages ago.
I'll post the reply when i get it,
Take Care,
Carol
Had a reply for CJ..this probably clears up the tax box thingy!!
Hi Carol,
UK Publishers do not need to complete this field.
Regards,
Commission Junction
Just had an email from CJ with regards to the VAT situation.

Hi Steve,
Please see the guideline below that came from our Legal/Financial Counsel in the States;
Because Commission Junction (CJ) is a USA company, the agreements which CJ enters into with its international Advertisers and Publishers are also USA based, and CJ's international operations are structured as service companies; CJ is not required to collect nor remit VAT on transactions fees paid by Advertisers or received by Publishers. We suggest you consult with your tax advisor as to the applicability of VAT remittances and payments to the proper tax authorities.
We have employed PWC to look into how the EU directive of July the 1st will effect this and as soon as we get a heads up we will let you know more
Best regards
Steph Cooke
