Good Evening!
I am quite new to the Affiliate side of things and I'm currently building my first site.It maybe a fairly obvious question but I just wanted peoples thoughts on:
When you are adding a link/banner of some description to your content/site do you set the landing page to open in a new window or the same window? For now, I have set them all up in a new window as that's a personal preference of mine as a customer. Both (and more I guess if you want to get techinical) options are there and I wondered if it had much impact on sales etc and what people on here do as a general rule?
Any comments welcome!
Thanks :blush

I give all my outbound affiliate links the rel="nofollow" attribute as well. So google dosent wander off from your site when crawling
Agreed - New window works best with modern browsers as it is usually a just new tab.
I should add that I did actually experiment with opening all links in the same window - I found it annoying after a while. No scientific analysis but it definitely didn't increase sales.
Yep, I think I am going to carry on doing that, makes sense :tup
I think that if you open a page in your domain than it should be on the same windows, external links should open in new window.
Definantly open in new windows, all your doing if you dont is allowing someone to leave your site. Keep your site live and theres more chance more of your content will be viewed and as such more sales generated.
Yup, I don't think there is ever a reason from an affiliate perspective why you wouldn't want to open a link in a new window, and with most modern browsers now opening a new tab I find a new window actually help navigation.
Yup - new window everytime.
