Geo-Targetting and Server Location ?

I have to .com and the .co.uk I would like to place US affiliate links for the US market and UK links for the UK market seems sensible enough..

I will use wordpress and the blog would remain the same for both.

What is the best way to Geo Target these markets ?

It seems google likes .com site servers to be based in the US ?

Can I use a location sniffer or similar to serve up a UK index page, with promotions ?

And what's the lastest dope on duplicate content for that ?

I'm sure there must be a best practice for this and the best way to do it, can anyone offer up a suggestion or example ?

From a geo targeting point of view, Google likes backlinks from websites that are registered and hosted within the relevant country.

So for your .com obviously target relevant US hosted websites, and likewise obtain UK hosted and registered websites for your co.uk version.

Use whois to locate registration info and and ip address locater to provide info regarding the hosting.

But why do you want to have 2 kind of link for 1 site. This seems to me quite a lot of work for ... are you really that big in order to have them separated?
