    Hi,

I want to create a niche product page that is simply a search box, the people come and type what they want to price check in the box, the website returns some lovely cheap options for them to choose from. They click, they buy, everyone is happy.

But how do I go about doing it!!!!

I don't understand this product feed stuff at all. I don't know HTML etc, I use wordpress currently.

    • Where is the best place to learn to do this myself?
    • Is there a tool that will do this for me?

I've looked at ECU but it seems to be SPECIFIC products you create that it then updates automatically.

Key to this idea is the search function.

    Any ideas where to start?

    Cheers

    Hi

You are absolutely right ECU is set up for you to choose specific products for the content units. Good news is that we will have what you're looking for in the near future, where you'll be able to add a query and get results based on that query, and yes it should work in Wordpress.

Can't give you an exact time scale, but it's scheduled for this quarter, so keep us in mind if you don't come up with a solution.

    Cheers

What you would normally do is import the products into a database (lets say MySQL). Then when the user searches for a product you would look into the database for the specific phrase that they are searching for. The good thing with MySQL is that there is a specific command to use which will give you the 0% - 100% point score which you can then order the products returned.

If you have some knowledge of PHP and MySQL you should be able to do this - if not I can point you in the right direction if you want to have a go yourself or I can do it for you if you'd rather do it that way.
