Hi all
I realised that we had no mention of FusePump product feeds in this forum. As this section is all about the use of feeds and APIs I thought it would be worth making you aware of the FusePump suite of services and tools which are designed to simplify the use of feeds and to help you maximise the revenue attainable from them.
FusePump build product feeds by extracting the data directly from the merchant website. This has two important implications. 1. The data in the feed always reflects that of the site (as that was it's origin) 2. We are able to bring back all the rich attributes that are available on the website. The other key benefit for the merchants is that they do not need to deploy any technical resource to the creation, maintenance and distribution of the feed.
We currently have two core tools that allow affiliates to maximise the feed revenue opportunity from these data-rich feeds:-
1. For affiliates who have experience using feeds, they can use the FusePump FeedCreator. This tool allows the affiliate to filter which products they would like in a feed as well as selecting and renaming which attributes they would like to consume. Once configured, you simply consume a single URL each day which contains the feed data to your configuration. You can have a play with the tool here FusePump FeedCreator Tool. The standard update frequency for FusePump feeds is daily.
2. A tool that is suitable for all affiliates is our AdCreator tool. This allows affiliates to apply similar product filtering as they can in the FeedCreator, but this time, the output is standard IAB advertising formats which dynamically update based on the data within the feed. You can have a play with the tool here FusePump AdCreator Tool. Each impression that is shown on your site updates with a new set of products based on the filtering criteria you have applied.
Please note that you will need to contact Commission Junction (or reply to me) if you would like to actually use these tools to generate revenue as you require a specific tracking id to generate revenues from these tools.
Currently we have Thomson (Late Deals), Sainsbury's and FlyBe live with the FeedCreator via our partnership with Commission Junction. Thomson are also the first to have launched with the AdCreator this week. We also have a good number of quality merchants launching in the next couple of weeks. Watch out for annoucements about these as they go live both here on the forum and in your e-mail inboxes.
I look forward to your feedback which will be taken into consideration as we further develop our tools and services.
Kind Regards
Lee

Thanks Lee,
Do you have any plans to combine all client feeds into one super feed based on a universal structure?
Matthew
Hi Matthew
We're not currently planning to combine the feeds, although this is something that we will review from time to time as we produce more feeds. One of the benefits of our approach is that we are producing highly rich feeds for each merchant. However, this also means that each feed is normally unique in terms of fields and structure. Exacltly how affiliates combine feeds either for listings or comparison is often part of their own USP and we are not planning to try and dictate which fields we should standardise on as inevitably we would lose unique fields by doing this.
Our feed tool, FeedCreator allows affiliates to customise and filter the feed to ensure easy integration of feeds with their preferred format. This means that they can work to their own standards while utilising our feeds. You can see an example of this tool for our House of Fraser feed here (However, please ensure that you go via Commission Junction to pick up this tool otherwise your sales will not track for you) FusePump FeedCreator Tool

Still some gremlins in the Thomas Cook feed!
If I create a feed and select Spain, then add the keyword 'Playa Blanca', all looks well initally, but once the feed is generated, the first holiday is in Alcudia!
Would it be possible to offer the downloads in zipped form please.. ?
Thanks
Jason
Hi Brigadoon
The keyword search functionality we currently have in the FeedCreator is free text which means that the feed is allowing anything with "Playa" or "Blanca" in the feed to come through. This is why you are getting results that aren't just the resort Playa Blanca.
The keyword filtering is something that we are currently reviewing and we understand that what you actually want to achieve here is a feed containing holidays from the resort called Playa Blanca. This would be much better catered for with a category selection (nested under Spain) than by having to use a keyword search for it.
Therefore, we will be providing resort as a filter criteria in an updated version of the Thomas Cook FeedCreator which we will release soon. We are also currently reviewing which other data in the field can be provided as a useful filter.
It is very likely that we will then remove the keyword filtering as it is ambiguous and doesn't really provide you as an affiliate with a great deal of value in this type of feed. Much better to provide you with categories and meaninful filters than to leave you guessing how best to query the data set.
We very much welcome your feedback in an effort to improve the usability of our clients' feeds.

Hey loquax
Zipped feeds would be BRILL. Particularly for Thomas Cook as the data set is so massive.
Zip formats are slightly tricky as our feeds are configurable, and therefore built dynamically.
Don't worry though - we're working on it and I'll keep you posted

Hello Lee,
This is really interesting stuff. It would be good to know if FusePump has managed to attract more merchants since TUI and especially if any big players of the travel industry like travelocity / lastminute or expedia for example.
Also, is there any other commercial model available besides CJ - do you rent this service out directly?
Cheers,
