I am starting an affiliate site. I don't want to go into the details but lets hypothetically say I am starting an affiliate site that sells gym equipment.

I have no PHP knowledge and I understand that I may need to. My question is, let's picture a gym equipment site. Now, let's say I have signed up to three different affiliate programs selling similar products. Would I be able to mix these all in together to all look the same, or would I have to put one data feed after another.

    This is really confusing.

    Hey mrkidd85,

First of all - welcome to the forums.. you'll find a wealth of knowledge and some really helpful people on here that will help you get started.

We can help you do this via Easy Content Units - have a look at this demo unit I've created for you: easycontentunits.com : Home - it contains a few different products from 12 different merchants on 8 different networks (i've only chosen to display 6 random products at a time however), and it's built using a very simple "search for a product, tick to add to a unit" system.

The unit can be totally customised to fit your site, and auto-updates with the latest prices and stock availability information - indeed should any products go out of stock, we'll even send you a mail to let you know.

Hope that helps? Let me know if you have any questions at all or need any help.

    Cheers,

    John

    Hi mrkidd,

Welcome. Although I am new to this forum I am not so new to affiliate sites. In fact, hypethetically, I also have an affiliate site for gym equipment! I run this site on wordpress using Datafeed Studio to provide the datafeeds from my affiliate programs. Datafeed studio can parse feeds from almost all of the affiliate programs that you need and, although I have not tried it, I think you can create your own formats for the more obscure feeds you need to import (need to check that).

The price is pretty low in comparison to some available at the moment and once you have a license you can run the software on as many domains as you like. In fact, it also acts as a standalone product but like I say I use it with Wordpress via a plugin. The support so far has been invaluable and fantastic. They respond very quickly to queries (usually the same day) and are extremely helpful to say the least. I have looked at a couple of the others like price tapestry but the price is too high for me.

You should not need to know too much about PHP to get started with this. You just import your feeds, create your pages and (if using Wordpress) use the shortcode to call the particular query you want and it will list ALL available items from ALL affilaite programs.

    Hope this helps.

    regards

You can get a script called Pricetapestry to do this for you.
It's not exactly a simple click and install thing but it isn't to hard to get started - I'm not really into all this technical stuff but I had a couple of sites pulling in feeds within a few hours.
It can be used to simply populate your posts with products and accurate prices or you can build a big multi-function site with it. It's 220 quid but you can use it on as many sites as you like - it didn't take me long t make it pay for itself either.
The technical support is unbeatable - the guy who runs it will answer any question you have no matter how simple or technically advanced.
