    Hi.
Can anyone help? We are building a new affiliate wedding site and are trying to work out how to get get live data feed onto our site from our mechants. Our site has been designed on Joomla, is there a specific package we will need to install to facilitate this? We are real beginners, so any help would be gratefully received..

    Thanks Ju

    Hi Ju,

From my experience, you can sign up with an affiliate network company to start with. The big affiliate network companies will take around 10 -15 business days to review your application, usually it is a good thing to check what merchants they are partnered with. This will give you an idea if they are more UK focused or USA focused or other countries. Once you have been given access to their sites, you can select items that you can export to an XML or CSV feed or file. Once you have done that, you will need a script to import your items with your affiliate links (your ID to receive commission), then you can use a php "calling node" to call the script on your page. I'd suggest to get the help of a developer to get things going. All the best, Michel

    Hi Michel

Thanks for your reply. The developer has downloaded the feed we selected from Affiliate Windows but they are having problems inplanting a search engine so the end user can select which type of product they are looking for. Should this be such a problem using Joomla? Sorry another question do Affiliates take out Professional indemnity insurance? Really appreciate your help!

    Regards Ju

    Hi Ju,

From what I understand your developer has never done an affiliate site before? Could this be the start of an expensive project?

Did you know Affiliate Window have a free toolbox for their affiliates? Perhaps check their forum, Shopwindow at ShopWindow Forum this might help.

Regarding your insurance question, try to post a thread on the "Affiliate Marketing Lounge".

Just insert the feed into mysql and set a FULLTEXT mysql index on the field you want to search
