Thread: PHP to auto update a feed ?

    Ok..right, sorry bit new to this, but so far I can get a datafeed into a database and display whatever it is i need to show.

    What i can't do is auto upate the feed. Any pointers or help as the Php required to auto update a feed would be really useful thanks!

    You could setup a cronjob to import the feed and update the database.

    As above - I use cronjobs to auto update. A good simple solution.

    Presume you have cpanel with your hosting? If so, Use Cron Jobs To Automate Tasks or Update Your Website

    Hi..ok, cron jobs it is, sorry if im being knaive here, but so far the only cron job method i have found is via wget, my host, clook doesnt like this and suggested i use a php based approach..so, presumably, i have some sort of php code in a separeate file that connects up with the database which i can then cron job...?

    Hmm..getting there, just looking at my hosts cron jobs, easy enough to set up, only question i have is on the command line do i put the external datafeed address in or somethingelse?

    You put your path to your script that imports the feed to your database.
