  Pendings / Validated

Only got 50% of my sales validated in February and only then because for one merchant I had loads and mailed them to get their arse in gear (and they did - thanks you know who you are ).

Anyway it would be good if DGM would list stuff like:

Date Last Validated:

Validation Performed Last Month:

Average Deleted Sales %:

Click To Sale Ratio:

etc... and make these figures public so the merchants dont take advantage of affiliates and gives a little power back to us.

What do others think?

I think that's a good idea, as we are partners of DGM also so we should make sure we are not wasting out effort.

However have to be very careful at what stats and how this is measured, for example someone like me could send Tiscali 20,000 clicks a month, and the sales could be just 400 where as someone else could send 1,000 and have 300. You then need to say why is that, and why is the guy with 20,000 happy with this. Where as others would not be.

So yes I think we need more feedback as to what is working, overall so we don't miss some gems but also need to be careful not to put people off a program just because someone markets them in a non-targeted fashion.

I think we need to know that stuff converts - and of course we all get stuff to convert at different rates.

It should all average out OK - I assume it does at CJ anyway else they wouldn't do it.

Yeah but then you have the daft problem that you get on CJ where folk get terminated from a program because there traffic doesn't convert as much as others and so you make there ranking not look that hot, had that happen before.

If I was paying for PPC keywords I would expect a high conversion, but if I was running pop-unders I would expect a low conversion... that however won't tell anyone if the program really converts or not, I see programs with low rankings on CJ yet I do really well out of them and I know others are the same. Of course some programs just stink but you can work that out quickly enough on your own.

Does that actually happen?

But isn't that the point of measuring how well you're doing. If you send 10,000 banner impressions which costs that company money and you don't send many coversions then its up to them what to do.
If you're just sticking banners on pages and not targetting them then thats poor sense for you and the merchant.

There are of course ways round this showing lots of impressions for few conversions.

10,000 banner shows on average will results in 50 clicks, it's no secret that merchants see banners as free branding. And from 50 clicks you will be lucky to get 15% conversion.

If your running a banner farm then thats another matter.

Of course you target banners, but the beauty is that you can run them over your full site also. For me I have 4 million page views in a month, I pick banners based on if they have a competition, offer, or are well known brand in general and run them over the whole site, but on others I will show a banner per page.

On one site First Direct is seen by all members every week, the conversion rate is poor but the amount of money I make from them is in the thousands per month.. Would First Direct chuck me out for having high banner views and low clicks? If they did they would need there head examined as I given them thousands of customer and every day I am re-enforcing there brand with my users, enough said. It would be a different story if I was paid for CPM.

However if anyone here expects to make a fortune from banner adverts then they have there heads in the clouds. It's content and copy that count's, banners are side issues that we need but don't rely on.
