  Introducing DGM2 content units

Introducing DGM2 content units

ukafffiliates.com are pleased to release user definable affiliate content units.

What is a Content unit?

A content unit is a single banner tag which displays multiple creative. They are created by the publisher by specifying the size and creative taken from any available advertiser. Upto 100 banners can be added to a single Content Unit, weighting can be added dynamically and changed according to the reported performance.

Once created content units can be edited by the affiliate. You can add or delete creative, or simply change the exposure of the current collection.

Impressions, clicks and sales metrics will be added to the 'Your Merchants' report where appropriate.

Aggregate data will be viewable on the Content Unit report page.

Changes made to Content Units can take up to 10 mins to take effect.

Nice new feature (havent tried it yet!). I would just say it may cause some confusion as 'content units' means something totally different on TD - but I'm sure people will get their heads around it.

Edit: BTW, how do you access it? Or is it still being implemented?

The link to this tool will appear any second now, its just in the sync que.

On the naming convention: We have been using Content Units (in this form) internally with our larger publishers for over a year, so it would probably confuse us greatly if we changed the name. Sadly!

Hi Tony,

Nice feature - will definately prove useful.:thumb

As SYLT says not the same as TD Content Units (more akin to their Pools).

Do you have any plans to introduce a feature like TD's content units? (the XML feeds should allow this to be fairly easily produced?)

Tony, top stuff... really good system.

Here is my questions then before I swing in to action and start updating my sites to use these...

1) Whats the point to the default banner? My guess is that if another banner you picked is offline this will show.. so that being the case once you pick a default is it wise to then select it again to add to your rotation?

2) What happens to your units if a campaign/merchant gets deleted or suspended?

3) What happens if the size you picked is no longer in the merchants selection of sizes, will you have a missing image showing or will the default come in to play.

That's all my questions for just now, will have more later I am sure LOL

Fantastic stuuf, just updating my site to php, so will be sure to include 1 or 2 CU's.

I have 3 questions tho.....and they are all exactly the same as supercods.

As a side note, I have added my default in the group also to be sure it gets some exposure.

Great feature. Well done DGM2.

Great minds think alike - we had the same questions as SuperCod.

I hope DGM2 will be able to introduce 'content units' like TradeDoublers with dynamically updated content. Banners are an anachronism in 2003 and just don't work.

Hi

1. The default is used if the browser does not suppot eye-frames!! (Is I-frame still *'d out?)

2. Suspension will not have an effect

3. At the moment, we rarely delete banners, we normally replace with default (or new) so there is no problem there, if a merchant is deleted then you would have to remove that merchant from your Content Unit. No differant to having to remove a merchants banners anyway (though easier I suspect). We are looking at alternatives though.

As for the Dynamic HTML, ala TD, we can already deliver such content.

  Re: HTML

... and no merchants have thusfar?

Are there any merchants which supply you with dynamically updated content that we can use? Must be at least one out of the 100+ that you have! Otherwise you should try to encourage them when you get the time. The 'content units' at TradeDoubler are the best feature there. We left space on our websites for your 'content units' because we thought they would be similar, not just a banner rotator.

Thanks for interacting with us affiliates on this messageboard, Tony. Great to have some feedback on these kinda things.
