Have you seen the "incentive" to put the TSP and JGB links back up? A competition to win £50 of books and a CD Walkman.

Enough to make me change my TD links back over? I don't think so...

If a choice between TD and DGM links, I would have the DGM links.

I agree with both of you. LOL

I would choose DGM over TD. I did. But the 'incentive' is not enough to make me change back, even if i thought i could win it.

At least on DGM you can see the pending sales arrive so you can assess the success.

TD (Books Direct) is going over to batch processing and from my experience of the other 'batch processed' programmes it's a case of hope, wait and then be disappointed.

If the commission and terms are the same I think DGM are the better choice. They also pay on time (assuming sales are validated).

Batch Processing applies to all BCA clubs on DGM as well.

    Thanks John

Perhaps I won't move over to DGM after all!

I really hate these batch merchants.

You put a link up and have absolutely no idea how well it's converting.

I find it very difficult to guess which links will and which won't convert. The 'shoppers' usually completely surprise me.

I tend not to bother with the batch programmes unless I've got plenty of space to fill.

You can use Sub-Ids in our links, each of your sites/pages/area`s etc can have an identifying value assigned so you know exactly which links are converting.

Additionally, real time pending sales data gives you an idea of conversion.

I don`t understand how batch conversion can interfer with this?!

    Hi Tony

I know all about your network ids thanks - they're good.

However Net Free Stuff's post implied that it was a batch system similar to Tradedoubler.

I've been running the BCA book clubs on TD for the last year at about £2-3k per month but as from 1st Jan they've changed to a batch system which means that rather than sales appearing as they occur you have to wait for one big batch at the end of the month.

This means for that whole month you have no idea if you sold a million or none! It's a pure case of wait and see.

That's why I suggested that DGM would be a better choice now because you can still see sales coming through on the pending list.

The post from Net Free Stuff implied this was not the case but your post implies that it is the case.

Putting both your comments together leads me to beleive that sales appear as pending as they occur but are only validated monthly as a batch??? How's that sound?

If that's correct then my orginal suggestion to switch over to DGM is still true. Better for monitoring.

    Hope that makes sense?!?!

Quote:
one big batch at the end of the month. [/quote]

They say they batch the transactions weekly, not monthly.

I'd have to agree that if we can at least track the sales made through the pending reports on DGM, then that sways my decision back to DGM links.

Given the straight choice of DGM/TD links, I'll almost always opt for DGM, but we were forced to change our links over from 1st December, and conversion has been better with TD.

I'd hate to change them back again, only to be told that we have to switch back again, but the ability to see the pending sales before they go in for batch processing would make that a worthwhile risk.

One thing to note is that you only earn commission on DGM from JGB and TSP, not from their more specialist clubs.
On Tradedoubler a click on a TSP link can earn commission from loads of different clubs, and I've been surprised at how many people have clicked on a TSP link and signed up for something like the history book club.

I've compared the performance of the networks for these book clubs and TD turned out to be better that DGM.

Hey JF - You're spot on!

I've sold quite a few memberships to obscure clubs that I wasn't even promoting so you're right - they come from other links.

If DGM only have TSP and JGBs then I'd lose all these I guess.

Talk about swinging back and fro..............

I think TD has the edge again! Saves me loads of work I guess!

Anyway, good for excitement and suspense, waiting for the batches to come through is a bit like doing the lottery (Whoops - Lotto!). At least I usually win something on the batch lottery!

However, I do like to support DGM whenever I get the chance - they're a very helpful bunch - it makes all the difference!

I'm still seeing them add onlive at TD. If they arn't live, then they are adding on a daily basis.
