    Hi All,

What are your thoughts on the new World Vision campaign thats launched on the network. It's a decent CPA worth £20 per donor generated.

Any feedback that will improve your clicks to conversions appreciated.

    Thanks,

    John

Having worked as a face-to-face fundraiser (yes, those annoying people on the streets) I would say it's wonderful to make some money while helping others worldwide.

However, being paid by the hour I was always against those who were paid on commission since I don't think people should ever be /pressured/ into giving but do it out of their own desire to help.

Infact I think a lot of the rants, swear words etc I got were a result of other fundraisers for other agencies having been too pushy in the past.

What I did find worked exceptionally well though was not to talk about the problems, no guilt tripping - everyone knows we live in an exceptionally cruel and inequal world - but instead to focus on the fantastic work that particular charity is doing to improve the situation. If you can inspire your viewer with tales of how WV or whoever is making the situation better, with examples of the affect on the lives of individual people, your enthusiasm about the organisation becomes infectious.

It's horrible when on the streets to feel you've depressed someone with your approach, especially when they leave without signing up esp. when they're on the dole or similar.
However using this method I'd have people /thanking/ me for giving them the opportunity to get involved and help with such valid work.

Do your research on World Vision - I can't share any stories about them having not worked for them - I assure you it will be worth your time.

We had a site dedicated to the people suffering in Iraq. You'd think it would be the ideal place to put up links to World Vision and other charities (several at CJ). Didn't earn a penny via text links to charities from over 50,000 visitors!

We live in a very very selfish world. People would gladly spend £40 a month on Sky Movies/Sports, but don't have a fiver to give to charities.

We have kept our links up because we believe in supporting charities, but, as their EPC at CJ demonstrate, there's no money to be made from them.

It's true, it's a f****** nightmate that people are so content to fill their lives with s**** but never will lend a hand to others unless it directly benefits them.
Unfortunately (or perhaps in some ways fortunately) the 'guilt trip' approach seems to be failing to bring many new supporters in - people seem more and more offended that someone is actually sitting them down and making them think about how luck they are.
Whenever i bring up charity issues with people they always talk about these appeals in the post, asking you to contribute more because of the terrible state of affairs.. instead of reminding the majority of people how lucky they are they get turned off by it and prefer to add it to their list of things to ***** about.

When it's launched my site hopes to address that in a small way although unfortunately it wont' go to the root of the problem - the classic 'whats in it for me' syndrome.. but since it's intended to raise a lot of money by itself i won't be including these links either ( or at least, not paid links)

    Edited couple of swear words

If u set up your charity site, send me the link and we might be able to help each other out. I'm working on a major charity site, though it will probably be a couple of years when it is fully operational as I can only work on it in my spare time, and we might be able to bounce ideas off each other...
