Just been re-reading the John Lewis policy on using their name. This is what it says below.

Affiliates may not bid on or use the word mark ' johnlewis.com' or 'John Lewis' in any way to gain preferential listings on Search Engines, Directories or any other kind of online database. Any other use of the word mark, other John Lewis registered trade marks, confusingly similar marks or copyright is expressly forbidden and will result in the termination of an Affiliate's agreement with johnlewis.com

My way of reading that is that you can't bid on JohnLewis.com or John Lewis which is fair enough.
I'm unclear though with this, is it OK to bid on other words for example "PC" and link to John Lewis directly from this (on google adwords)?
Also, if doing a direct affiliate link to Johnlewis.com with the search term "PC", is it OK to use www.JohnLewis.com as the displayed url, or for your description "buy a PC from john lewis" when using google adwords?

I always make sure that (affiliate or partner) is in the description of the ad.

I have used the site's URL in the past, but have now started to use my own site and get peeps to click through from there.
Long way round but it keeps the advertisers happy.

Probs not answered your question but there's a load of others doing pretty much want you want to do.

Hey up matey, I usually get them to come to my site and then I send them on their way too but think it would help conversions just doing the direct links with what I am doing at the moment
Just didn't want to get booted out by mis-reading their T&C's.
