Seems to be a lot of DGM merchants that have not contacted their affiliates informing them if they are moving to another network. If they are exclusive to DGM are they enjoying the free sales from affiliates that have not removed links?

Does anyone know which merchants HAVE moved and where to?

I think a month is long enough to sort themselves out, well at least contact us.

Im no longer putting up with "should be live with a new network this week" for week after week and dumping them, am i alone?

Sorry but im very p'd off with the money ive lost to DGM and aint being mucked around any longer.

    ill get my coat...

You were free to move links when the news broke. Your decision to keep links up was made by you.

There is a thread about it but still some merchants are going to end up with no links.

Mogga, if the merchant was dgm specific and there are no similar alternatives elsewhere there is no option to just move links to another merchant.

I can understand the frustration at being kept in the dark regarding dgm merchants. Some have been proactive in moving away, some we haven't heard a dicky bird from and have no idea if they are moving or if they've given up on affiliate marketing completely. Obviously this hasn't been helped by the dreadful lack of communication from DGM, but all in all I can't see any party coming out of this well at all... apart from the other networks making a grab for business of course.

I have had at least one merchant except me onto their campaign since dgm going bust. Now thats either complete incompetence or people/merchants are starting to use the dgm system for reasons its not designed for.

I have also had a few emails through the dgm platform from agencies touting alternatives - this I am not peed of about it.

It does seem though that dgm is not going to be saved, by keeping the site open it just asking for trouble.

Baz, we recently joined DGM and over 10 merchants accepted us since the news. So it seems like some merchants are trying to get some freebies.

If anyone has made sales since the news, try and invoice the merchants or contact them. I am sure they will be happy to pay you for the valid sales.

    .

It would be interesting if someone felt strongly enough through the amount they have lost if they mounted a legal challenge.

Determining who is the principal in the transaction could help everyone recoveer monies. I`ve asked the question of a number of merchants and affiliate netwroks and no one can give me an answer.

I am drawing comparisons with the travel industry which I am familiar with. A tour operator (ATOL holder) remains responsible for any travel arrangements sold through an appointed agent. That is the case even if the agent fails whilst holding client monies. The tour operator has to honour the holiday arrangements even though they never receive payment.

So do DGM (or any network) act as an agent or as the principal? Using the analogy with the travel industry if the network is an agent the merchant is still responsible for paying outstanding commissions to affiliates. If the network is the principal in the transaction then they have to pay commissions to affiliates regardless of whether they have been paid by merchants.

At the moment affiliates always lose, ie neither the merchants or networks are accepting principal status. It would just take one test case in the courts to determine who does act as the principal to be able to protect affiliates commissions. Any one willing???
