    cometnew or comet?

    Hi

Earlier I was looking through some of the Deleted merchants stats on DGM to see if I was getting clicks/impressions against any of them so I could investigate and remove any old banners etc.

In the process, I noticed I was getting stats against the old DGM Comet program - 'comet' (not the current Comet program - listed as 'cometnew') - no impressions only banner clicks!

Using the Daily Stats page, these clicks started 13 July 04, which is the same day I started using the 'cometnew' merchant. I figured I must somehow have an old banner on one of my sites.

After double-checking all my links, I think I have narrowed the problem down to the Dynamic Content Banner 120x600 (banner id 26657). This banner is an iframe and the code I have been using on my site is exactly the same as listed on DGM, including the Merch=cometnew bit to identify the merchant. But when you click on the actual banner, the url
    you go to starts with:
    dgm2.com/m/comet/b.asp?a=xxxxx......

whereas the correct urls for the new comet program all start with:
    dgm2.com/m/cometnew/b.asp?A=xxxxx

Could something in the iframe code (presumably on DGM's server?) be resolving the url to comet instead of cometnew and could this account for the banner clicks being recorded against the old deleted 'comet' program? Has any one else using this banner found similar banner clicks being recorded against the old comet program?

The banner works in that it takes you to the comet site, but I have no idea whether any subsequent sales are being tracked.

    thanks

    David
