On October 31st a series of changes are being made to the Consumer Credit Act and to the way financial products can be advertised.

We are currently updating our Goldfish card banners and will make these available to you in the next couple of weeks.

To comply with the Act you may also need to make changes to the promotional copy you produce yourself that refers to our product.

Therefore to help you with this we have produced the 3 rules below that must be adhered to:

1) Any promotional copy used to advertise the Goldfish credit card must include the name of the advertiser, which is ‘Goldfish’.

2) Every ad that specifies a rate of charge, other payments and charges, compares our own terms or compares our terms with our creditors, or includes an incentive to apply for credit must state the typical APR.
If the advert includes the typical APR it needs to be written as "Typical 17.9%APR variable" and must be more prominent than any other promoted rate such as balance transfer rates or cash back rate etc and any incentive to apply for credit. More prominent can mean any number of things such as bold text, placement in the ad, font size etc.

3) If the advert includes the Balance Transfer feature then the following wording needs to be included:

"*Made within 6 weeks after account opening. After 6 months Balance Transfers charged at standard purchase rate. Payments applied towards Balance Transfers first."

Please note that these rules are only guidelines on how to implement the new Advertising Regulations. We suggest that you seek independent advice. If these rules are not followed and the advert displayed on your site is false or misleading, you will be committing an offence and will be liable for prosecution.

The Goldfish website will be updated on the 1st November so please use this for reference.
