i've emailed about this but seeing as the chances of getting a reply from dgm seem as good as winning on the lottery, i thought i'd post here. (actually i won a tenner on wednesday, so maybe i'll get a reply this time?)

we've been promoting wwf adoptions under the belief that the commission structure is

    1 - 10 direct-debit sign-ups earn £11.50 CPA
    11 - 25 direct-debit sign-ups earn £15 CPA
    26 + direct-debit sign-ups earn £17.50 CPA

this is what is currently on the programme overview, and in fact, i had this confirmed in an email from chris brown not long ago after i discovered the programme overview was wrong (and was displaying a better comission structure).

who is right and who is wrong? if the terms have been changed, it's a bit of a kick in the teeth, especially considering the recent problems with wwf and the questionable commission paid (btw, i've not had a reply to my email about that yet either).

On 7 April I had an email from Patricia Erskine which contained the following:

"You are correct in your calculations - as you have made over 25 sales you will be on the £17.50 commission rate for WWF Adoptions."

I don't think it gets much clearer than that and I am happy to discuss this further with DGM if necessary. I have never been notified of any change to this and fully expect to be getting £17.50 per sale for wwf.

Please be advised that the commission rate as outlined in the email above is the correct rate for WWF Adoption:

    1 – 24 direct-debit sign-ups = £11.50 per sign up
    25 – 49 direct-debit sign-ups = £15 per sign up
    50 + direct-debit sign-ups = £17.50 per sign
    Kind regards,

    Patricia Erskine.

So when did it change from what you told me via email on 7 April, and why were the affiliates not notified?

Since when Patricia? The copy on the dgm2 programme overivew has just been changed to reflect that. Until just now it was different. Also, I had this email from Chris Brown on April 25.

    "> Hi John,
    >
    > A little embarrassing - just received an email from WWF
    > adoptions stating the real CPA for this program.
    >
    > 1 - 10 direct-debit sign-ups earn £11.50 CPA
    > 11 - 25 direct-debit sign-ups earn £15 CPA
    > 26 + direct-debit sign-ups earn £17.50 CPA
    >
    > Apologies about the mix up.
    >
    >
    > Regards
    >
    > Chris Brown
    > Publisher Account Executive
    >
    "

When was notification of this change sent out and when does it apply from? As far as I am concerned I want paying at the rate quoted by Chris Brown.

i've now had an email from patricia and she has stated

"Please be advised that the correct commission rate, which is what is set up in the dgm system is actually
    1 – 24 direct-debit sign-ups = £11.50 per sign up
    25 – 49 direct-debit sign-ups = £15 per sign up
    50 + direct-debit sign-ups = £17.50 per sign up

Please accept any apologies for any misunderstanding prom previous communications."

This just isn't on. We were told the rates were as described above both in an email by DGM themselves and, until yesterday, they were dispalyed on the programme overview.

The irony is the email that "confirmed" those rates was in reply to a query over the fact they had displayed the rates incorrectly. So this is a correction of a correction of a mistake, according to DGM! Going back to April. Apparently they think they can change the terms after almost 3 months of selling! Sorry, but it doesn't work that way.

We expect to get paid at the rate agreed. Anyone else in the same position want to PM me?

I got an email from DGM a few days ago saying I was pre-approved for all their charity programs and just needed to sign up. Now that I've found a suitable domain as a stand alone and been offered free email marketing for charities (I'm checking that one out as there must be a catch) I might get things rolling.

be careful john. you might find, as i have, that three months down the line DGM decide that they are going to change the rates they pay. not only change them for the future, but for sales you've already made! they may say "whoops, we made a mistake, sorry" and expect you to take the hit, even despite the fact they've previously confirmed the rates in emails and they've been displaying them on their web site for months.

That's worrying. What I try to do is either link directly with the charities or look for them on more than one network and host links to both.

yeah this is great for people working on PPC isn't it..

take the cost per click.. take a look at the sales.. work out the earnings per click.. work out the profit...use that to tweak the ppc and then find out months later that the sales commissions aren't what you were lead to believe they were.

    wwf..hmmm more like wtf !

this program has gone down faster than the titanic as it is in quality, conversion and management

" whoops we made a mistake "...indeed

I have to pay for my mistakes when I'm ppc'ing if I set something at 50p a click instead of 5p.. be nice if I could email google 3 months later and say..."guys.. ummm I dropped one there.. sorry but I made a mistake it should be 5p.. so I'm not paying the other 45p a click"... sorry and all that.

wish I could just get off paying for my mistakes as easily.

I think the DGM reaction here is outrageous. There is no other area of business where that kind of behaviour would be accepted and I don't see why it should be tolerated in internet marketing. You cannot suddenly change published rates and make them retrospective. I am unsure as to the legality of it and it most certainly isn't ethical.

dgm are looking into this and getting back to us but, depending on their reply, we will be taking this further if we have to.
