You would have thought, by now, affiliate networks should spot this kind of thing.
I see they advertise holidays - car hire - hotels etcOriginally Posted by Andrew Mac
Is it the same rate for those?

Give DGM a break. A good brand with the url in the banners. As a viewer of a site looking at the banner I would click on the banner rather than type the address into the browser.

It's not a question of having a go at DGM, regardless of how good the brand is, there is no excuse for merchants trying to get away with free branding for their website - different if they are an Internet only business where the domain name is also their business name when it is just about acceptable but otherwise a distinct no no in my book.
Never argue with idiots. They just drag you down to their level and then beat you with their experience.
If ignorance is bliss then some of the people I know must be orgasmic.
How about them giving us a break.
The visitor may well click on the banner once, but the URL is being imprinted in the visitors brain and if they see it enough times, they'll remember it. Job done for United, but no commission for me.
Its not a dig a DGM for the sake of it (they've had enough un-needed critisism recently) but this new merchant release isn't great.
Agree that too many merchants use their banners to promote their URL, but all we have to do is not use them. If not a single affiliate used these branding banners - as we never do - the companies would soon get the message. They fully know what's going on. The United Airlines banner probably came straight from their CPM campaign. I don't think it's specifically DGM's fault, they are no more culpable than any other network.
I've regular seen affiliate programs launch on other networks where it looks like a five year old has made the banners and they quote one commission rate on the forums/newsletters and another on the network's site, but nobody criticises them.
It's a major coup for DGM and I wish to congratulate them on it.
exUK traffic welcomed ?

Hi,
Thanks for your comments.
It may sometimes seem like we don't see the significance of urls in banners (and yes there are plenty out there - as mentioned not just on our network) and we will feed the comments back.
It is something I always mention when dealing with my clients. On a more positive note Sea France launched today and no banners contain any urls.
Thanks,

Well here I go thinking I'll give DGM a chance on this one, and what do I get on the log in screen?

United might be a big player in the US, but their share of the market in the UK is not that significant. I want to see something work with DGM, because otherwise it is just too easy to carry on the complaints. £10 CPA isn't bad, especially if the CR really is 6.5% - but so far, all I am getting is more wasted time, account summary still not available, and nothing much to give me any confidence that United are going to be playing the affiliate game in the long term (assuming they get safely out of Chapter 11, but that's another story).
Hi James,
I've just approved you for this program.
You should be able to pick up your links now.
Having looked at the creative I agree it's not particularly great but we are liaising with them to provide improved banners.
Thanks,

kevin,
I'm still getting:
Travel (0) - and same for other categories
No sign of United on my list, and no way to apply
Airline Network generating clicks, money coming through from time to time, but showing as suspended.
Any further suggestions?
Thanks
James
