Comet Launches a New Site - Changing deeplinks

Dear Affiliate,

Comet is launching a brand new site on 4th October 2006.

As part of this relaunch, the URL format will be changing therefore if you are currently deep linking into the Comet Site can you please pay special attention to the below.

Banner Creatives
For your information there will be no impact on the banner creatives that are managed through the dgm interface.

Deep- linking

All URLs linking to the Comet website will need to be generated in the following way

(1) The Prefix Code
Insert your unique dgm tracking code (e.g. http://www.s2d6.com/x/....) which can be obtained from your dgm account before the main URL.

(2) The main URL

Please see guidelines below with regards to linking to the homepage / department / category / product / search pages.

A new link generator has been provided for you so you can convert your old URLs into the new ones for both the product and category pages. Please e-mail the account manager to obtain this spreadsheet.

(3) The end Tag
Once you have part (1) & (2) of the link you will need to enter this into the deep link generator in order to add Comets coremetrics tag to the end.

You will find the deep link generator by logging into www.dgmpro.com and viewing the company information for Comet.

Without the CM tag, the client will not be able to identify the sale as belonging to an affiliate and therefore commission cannot be awarded.


• Therefore your tag should be formatted in the following way;

The new homepage URL is

This will re-direct you to the old site until the new site is launched.

Categories & Product deep linking

You can also deep link to the category and product pages ahead of re-launch.

Please e-mail the account manager for the new link generator.

- Insert your old URL for both the category and product pages (please note that these are on separate sheets of the excel file) into the sheet and this will then automatically generate the new URL for you to use.

- You will then have to insert the new URL into the deep link generator in dgmpro order to add the coremetrics tag.

Below are examples of the old and new product and category URLs, so that you can see the differences:

Note: only Homepage, Category Pages and Product Pages can be set up as re-directs ahead of the new site going live.

All other links e.g. URLs to department homepages, sub-category pages, on-site search listing pages, content, collections and promotions will not work in the new site. We recommend that you take these links down on the evening of 3rd October and replace with new links once the new site is live

Please be aware that compensation will not be paid to those affiliates driving traffic to a dead link. Therefore, can you please make sure that this is done.

There is a PowerPoint presentation available detailing what you can and can’t do under this new format. Please e-mail the account manager if you would like a copy of this.

Communication will be sent out when the new site is Live.
