  Parship zanox / dgm mix-up

Have been discussing an issue with DGM and would appreciate some second opinions.

Originally, referrals to parship via my dgm links were landing at www.parship.co.uk/ with tracking info at the end of the url string.

I then noticed on Thursday last week that the landing page had changed to zanox.parship....

I called dgm, who duly investigated and the next day, the landing page for their links changed to dgm.parship....

I queried the fate of referrals made during the period of the error and was told:

"The client made a technical error regarding urls - As I understand it, implementational errors had been made and in an attempt to rectify this, they then incorrectly added the Zanox redirect. This happened on Thursday 12th October. Despite the redirect, Dgm Cookies were still dropped and all impressions, clicks and sales were still being tracked by Dgm, so all your sales data is correct."

This leaves me confused. Can dgm cookies really have been dropped when the visitors were sent to zanox.parship... ? And can sales really have been tracked correctly?

My apologies to dgm for opening this up for discussion, but my technical knowledge isn't as strong as it should be in this area, so I hope you'll appreciate my desire for a second opinion that is better informed than my own.

I think they're on pretty much every network.

I have a couple of issues / concerns with the situation:

- firstly, I didn't think that cookies dropped at, say, dgm.domain or zanox.domain would "work" if a visitor later returned to www.domain

- secondly, in respect of last week's issue, surely any leads or sales generated in respect of visitors who had cookies generated at zanox.domain won't be allocated to dgm

I'm 99% sure that the cookie is dropped from the affiliate network. Rather than the merchant. eg the cookie drop would take place when the user clicks on http://www.dgm2.com/?a=01932 and before it redirects to zanox.merchant.com. So the tracking should be completely unaffected by what goes on later. As long as the callback to the affiliate network at the merchants checkout is working.

You are correct!

I can now clarify from the client that all the sales were recorded in their system despite an error with url's. Therefore, as mentioned previously, all your sales data is correct.

Regards
Michelle
