Matt
A couple of days later than expected but brilliant news all the same. Now I can bombard my sites with all their programmes and hopefully start seeing some cross site sales coming in![]()

Most of the sites will have specific promotions, incentives etc so feel free to have a look around each of the sites to see which incentives would work best for your sites target audience. Commission will be at 5% of the demand value generated and a 30 day cookie will be set. Please note these terms may be subject to change as we strive to expend our new customer base this year.
Why did we move to one network?
As the affiliate program has grown, so too has the time taken to manage it. Working across 2 networks there was a lot of replication of effort which ultimately takes up valuable time which could be spent managing other areas of the program. Ultimately we wanted to manage the program a lot more effectively and, with the move to one network, feel we are in a great position to do this.
Changes to the campaign
Before the decision was taken to consolidate all activity onto a single network JD Williams had been running the campaign dual network for 2 years with very few changes to the terms or the sites.
Having carried out a thorough review of the campaign over the past couple of months, the decision was made that the main improvements that needed to be made to the campaign were as follows:
Deep linking – affiliates are now able to deep link to any part of the site by amending codes which will mean that you can promote specific products as you desire and these will track as affiliate sales
Returns – Previously JD Williams have paid out even if a customer has returned their order. Moving forward, we will be deleting sales that have been returned and because of this there will be a longer validation period than previously. Sales will not be validated until 5 weeks after the date of the sale. If you would like stats on the returns rate, please contact Matt or Sheenu who will be able to provide you with visibility on these. Please bear in mind that JD Williams have been paying out on these transactions for nearly 2 years and with this change, will be able to re-invest cost savings in the campaign and offer more attractive rates in the future.
Credit fails – We previously paid commission on those new customers who failed credit scoring after the sales tag recorded a sale. These will now be included these in the reversal files supplied weekly. We can also provide you with details of the reject rates for each of the sites you may choose to promote – available on request.
Revising creative regularly – previously, most of the traffic for the catalogues had been directed to each homepage. Moving forward, there will be a greater emphasis on targeted landing pages with fantastic offers, discounts and rewards.
Microsite – DGM have developed a microsite for JD Williams which supplies you with brand profiles, sample homepages, creative and offers – going forward we intend to add latest TV ads also. Please visit the microsite for more information.
New and Existing Customers – JD Williams are looking for affiliates to deliver new customers to the site and now that they are able to identify new customer sign ups, it is possible moving forward to amend the commission structure to reward affiliates further for driving sales from new customers. JD Williams will be analysing the new customer data before adapting the payment structure to reward affiliates for driving more targeted traffic.
Site Upgrades – JD Williams have over 40 sites that all require continual upgrades and refreshes. We are striving to keep all sites as up to date and fresh as possible. You will see this reflected in the look and feel of the sites over the coming months.
Transparency – we are aware that it may not be ideal cancelling returns or credit fails however this is essential to ensure a more cost effective campaign – ultimately leading to the affiliate channel being acknowledged as an effective channel for online sales. To this end we can provide you with details of order ids which are failing and the split between rejects an returns
Validations
As we are introducing the new reversal file for credit fails and returns, let me give you and idea of when sales will be validated – the validation period will be 5 weeks. This is required as our returns policy is 28 days therefore we need the full period to ensure we get a complete list of these.
For example if a sale was made today and not returned until the last day, this would be the process:
- Sale made – 3rd March
- Returned on 28th day – 31st March
- Logged on system as return within 2 days
- Included on the returns file run on 7th April (week 5)
Why Promote JD Williams?
- Excellent commission rates – currently 5% of basket value
- Long established retailer
- Prompt Payment
- Incentivised creative and targeted landing pages
- A wealth of information on customers and profiles
- Continual updates to websites – navigation, landing pages etc
If you would like any more information on the JD Williams campaign, please contact Sheenu or Matt
Kind regards,

Hi Matt, It says on the DGM website that you can earn atleast 5% commision for JD Williams sales but I do not see anymore information on this. How much sales will we need to generate to move up a tier? Is it based on the number of sales or the sales value?
Thanks
Hi,
The commision structure for JD Williams is a flat 5% of the basket value. We do not have any tiered structure currently in place.
This is confusing in dgmPro so I will ammend this to say that we have a flat commission structure.
For all of the latest information on the campaign, please refer to the JD Williams Microsite that we have set up. We will be adding information on each of the catalogues in the near future - giving details of customer demographics for each catalogue as well as other useful information for the campaign.
Thanks,
Matt
