  Buying a domain

I've just found a domain name I'd like that currently has a 1 page site on it with some affiliate links. I've emailed the owner to ask if he'd like to sell it.

On the off chance that they're interested and don't demand a silly amount of money, how do you go about doing this?

I.e. how do you (a) physically do it and (b) don't get stuck with me not wanting to pay until I have the domain and them not wanting to give me the domain until I've paid?

Use PayPal so that you both have an independent arbitrator.

Use Nominet ( for co.uk ) transfer forms ( available on their site ).

Thanks Gadget!

Does Paypal have some sort of escrow facility, then? Or is it that I'd pay by credit card and if they didn't transfer the domain to me I could cancel the payment?

there are also recovery companies that will do the work for you. I guess they take on the risk? For a fee of course!
