I am looking at employing a couple of people on a casual basis, with odd blocks of hours here and there, however I don't want to become embroiled in having to do their tax, ni because I simply cannot afford to have someone on a payroll, I am only a sole trader.

So is it possible they invoice me for their work and I pay their invoice, but they are then responsible for declaring their earnings from me with the IR via self assessment?

Much in the same way I use elance and rentacoder where I pay people for projects?
