Auditing of affiliate network tracking
A discussion with my bookkeeper on Wednesday raised the issue of if and how the reporting of click-throughs, sales and affiliate revenue is audited.
In particular, attention was drawn to one programme on a certain network (who shall for now remain nameless), which was massively underperforming compared to its previous track record.
Was this down to a problem with the network’s tracking, or were there other causal factors?
One of the private contracts we have recently arranged with an independent affiliate programme mentions their right to audit our servers every six months if they so wish.
I don't know any details of arrangements between merchants and networks, but was wondering if anyone has made a request to audit the servers and tracking systems of any of the affiliate networks, and how the networks would respond to this.James Avery
