I think it's possible to open an actual US-based $ account. Citibank still offer them, IIRC
Of course, it makes visiting your branch manager tricky, but it solves a lot of problems, more than it creates in most cases
Over the past few months i've managed to move over a lot of my USD earnings from cheques to bank transfers but i still need to pay in around $2,000 monthly by USD cheques.
Living in a fairly small town this is getting to be a real PIA as each time i goto my local branch nobody knows either how to process them or they dont have the forms
Just wondered if anyone could reccomend any good banks for accounts in USD? I currently bank with LloydsTSB and find their commission reasonable (~£8) with a pretty lousey exchange rate.
Would it be worthwhile opening a USD account for only a few thousand each month? More for ease of use than anything as its becoming a bit of a nuisance each month now.
Cheers guys!

If you open a citibank UK account, you can have extra accounts in all other currencies at no cost.
