Microsoft, believe it or not, have created a free one:

    http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/of...036301033.aspx

It's had great reviews in the magazines.

I have installed it, but haven't had a chance to look at it yet. Its quite a big package, as it installs a copy of SQL server to run the database on.

Should do everything you want, it may be overkill though, as its quite complex.

As it's free though, you could give it a try. If you have experience with previous accounting software it will help you.

Try winweb.com , online accounting. I use it for quite a few of my clients as I am a winweb partner.
Many others use a straight forward spreadsheet eg diyaccounting.co.uk (DIY Accounting simple Business Accounting Software with vat returns from £12.99).
Free is not always the best ... depends how you value your time.
The end result is that it must be straight forward to use and produce accounts, reports etc to save time preparing your tax return and keep track of your income and expenditure.

Quickbooks also do a free, cut down version via its Approved Professional Advisor network. PM if you would like a copy. I will be making it available for download at hrbsaccountants.com in the next few days.

    Regards

I just use a spreadsheet as as itemised cash book which I add up at the end of the year and put the totals straight onto the tax form.

In the past, I tried the MS money program but found that was too complicated for my needs.
