I am considering employing a person for my limited company to design websites for my new projects and to do related SEO work.

I have been an affiliate in the sportsbook and gaming industry for 5 years and gave my full time job up 2 years ago to do affilaite marketing full time.

I have used web templates, ppc and email campaigns to genearte business which has proven to be sucessful but have no real web design or seo skills so need to employ someone to do this for me and move my business forward.

I would provide an office along with any hardware and software but need to know what sort of money I would have to pay them.

My question is what Salary would I need to offer for this role.

    Any comments gratefully received.

is this really a full time job? do you really need to go to all the expense of employing someone?

why not just get prices for each project and get other companies/self emplyed people to work on them for a given price

2 other factors which would affect salary include -
where are you based ? (obviously London salaries are considerably higher)
how much experience do you need them to have ?

When it comes to employing people, you need to consider quite a few factors. This can include wages based on area (as dgoodchild stated), bonuses, contracts and appraisals, risk and risk assesment, certain acts and regulations such as discrimination, flexibility and smaller things like the Visual Display Unit act under health and safety regulations when using a PC.

You will also need to consider Insurance for not only the premesis but for employer liability should your staff sustain an injury when working.

It may therefore be easier, or cheaper, to outsource on smaller tasks and hire a freelancer, if you can build a rapport and relationship with someone you will benefit in the long run.

Just my two cents, may want to get a bit more professional advice first, anymore questions I will see what I can do!

Thank you for all the comments.

It has made me think that perhaps I do not need a full time member of staff to do the things I want done.

When I have tried to outsource work such as web design or seo most people never bother to reply to my emails or they say they are too snowed under with work.

Perhaps they get scared when they see that I want seo work done for gambling related sites they think its too much of a challenge for them due to the competetive nature of the industry, they all seem to be looking for the easy work.

    Best wishes to all

Try creating a general email about your project, that you can forward to a few companies in your area, give them enough information to get a quote back to you and even consider including details about your budget for the project and the timeframe you need it done in e.t.c, thats the only thing that I wish I'd get with specifications sent through on email - it would save so much time and if you get no response it means you need to rethink your budget for that project.

do a search for "web design {yourCity}" or "seo {yourCity}" and email the top companies in the results, if one of them takes on your project you'll be able to meet them in person to discuss the finer details.

if you're having trouble with agencies, try searching for "web design freelancers {yourCity}" or "seo freelancers {yourCity}", they'll usually take anything, I should know
