Thread: Property asking prices increase

    According to rightmove asking prices for new properties coming on to the market over the last month are on average 1.2% higher than the previous month. That’s an average of £2,953 above last month's average.

    This is further evidence of consumer optimism in the housing market, but to put it into perspective, asking prices have dropped on average approximately 10% since the peak of the housing market, while prices achieved are closer to 25% below the peak prices.

    There is still a long long way down for the housing market to go yet..

    I wouldn't get too excited.

    Agreed, but if prices stop falling at such alarming rates perhaps lender criteria will relax somewhat which would certainly make a big difference.

    It would also make lead purchasing more profitable if you can actually place the business somewhere.

    Surely you don't honestly believe that it's "further evidence of consumer optimism in the housing market".

    Rightmove's figures are based on initial asking prices. Subsequent reductions are not included in their bullish figures. I wonder why, but then that's just me.
