Can't be too hard to rank for that keyword, this forum thread already ranks higher than the pagerank10 page! I'm guessing it doesn't get too much traffic either or otherwise it wouldn't have expired.

lol, yeah just noticed, i've checked the stats for the page and nobody had visited it for those terms (well apart from me while checking), which is probably why the person let it expire.

I'm not a finance sort so would have no idea on finance keywords.

Before you get an expired page its always best to click on the stats to see if it's still ranking as it once did, usually the best ones get snapped up within the hour, the ones which are left over are usually no good for one reason or another... but sometimes do come back to life.

Our biggest page owner doesn't really create his own pages, he just buys expired pages and changes the affiliate links, he has been doing this for the past few years and still doing it to this day... so i'm guessing it's worth while checking them from time to time.

I would prefer someone else other than us to take over a good ranking page because it usually encourages the affiliate to buy more of there own when they see sales being made.

The only time i'll take them over is if I think the page has been expired by accident and so give the page back when contacted, but I don't check the pages that often, only when i'm doing a tidy up and going through them to delete the junk. I won't delete poor performing pages as they sometime come back to life, but I will delete scrappy looking pages irrelevant of how well they are perfoming.

Another reason I don't usually take over pages is because of the time and effort required to update them, its far better all round if 100 people took over 100 pages than 1 person took over 100 pages.

We have plans to make things more automated so all affiliates have to do is enter content and simply tick what else they want showing, e.g. the automated stuff will be, vouchers, offers, amazon, shopwindow, easy content units etc.. we would use our own icodes database to generate most of it, then when a page expires it will automatically replace the affiliates id's with ours or with who ever takes it over.

I didn't notice you're actually affiliated with Pagerank10.co.uk...I must be going blind. Sounds like a good idea what you're saying about making it easier to create pages. Otherwise affiliates need to go to the trouble of getting some content written and logos designed.

Yeah, we own pagerank10 and icodes, eventually they will work together so everyone can benefit from the seo rankings of pagerank10 and the automatic nature of icodes to make life even easier.

The only thing we can't do is automate unique content which is the major part which pulls in the visitors. The affiliates are the ones who update the shared iCodes database which runs and updates their own sites and our sections of pagerank10.
