I have many clients who are willing to buy car insurance through me if I find them good deal. I want to get commission from insurance companies. clients will call me and i will fill in forms on their behalf and input their payments details. But no money will go through me. How do I start without being authorised? Is it possible to find some umbrella company?

    Hi

That is the definition of an insurance broker. You need to be authorised by FSA or an appointed reprezentative of an authorised company. In the last case your comission will go first in the direct authorised company account, they will take a cut (usually 20%) and pay you the remainder.

How do I become appointed representative? Will I be able to take details from my clients and find them cheapest quote?

Doing research you may find a few. Look for websites of small companies they may be interested.

You will need some training from them as they are responsible for complaints and you will be only able to use the insurers the've got contracts (agencies) with. They usually provide you with a platform to quote and apply with the customer.

Make sure when you agree the cut with them if you are covered by their PI insurance or you need to buy one for yourself. It can be expensive.
