We are lead generators operating in the Scottish Trust Deed market for the last few months without a CCL. When we initially setup we knew nothing about the industry or the required accreditations to operate lawfully. It was brought to our attention recently and we are panicking.

If we were to apply for a license now, I’m afraid that the OFT would not view our ignorance as an acceptable excuse and refuse a license. We are in the process of bringing on a fully accredited debt professional to run this aspect of the business in a bid to legitimise.

Does anyone have any similar dealings with the OFT in regards to this?

What are the likely punishments for operating without a CCL in this sector?
