    Hi,

I have a nice financial affiliate site I set up a few weeks ago - so far, its earned £27 in commission on PPC spendings of less than £5, so its a decent ROI. The problem is that its so slow to generate income. What would the best strategy be? To try and improve conversion rates (7% currently) or diversify into other areas?

I'm sure I've given too much information away, but I'm curious as to what is considered the best way to increase income, and I'm completely new to the affiliate marketing (but not the web) game...

    Thanks!

If you have proved that your site/landing pages can generate leads and you have thus far turned £5 into £27 then you should spend more time on your ppc campaign.

Try developing new keyword groups for testing. Try testing unique ads for each group.

Be prepared to put some more money in but it should work out for you.

Don't get tempted to pick more expensive terms.

Thanks for the advice, followed it, spent 3 or 4 hours tweaking the adwords campaign and earnings are on track to be around £450 on PPC Spend of £40 at the end of this month, and after tweaking the site code, have doubled again to around £25 daily from the 11th onwards.

Just wanted to say thanks from a newbie to all this

    That's a good improvement, congrats.

There are many othe techniques you can employ to continue growth and ROI.

First thing first is ensure that you are tracking your campaigns properly. Cover all aspects such as ad versions, ad positions, negative keywords, converting keywords, landing pages, times of days/weeks. Most important non-converting keywords. Make sure you keep your eye on keywords that are costing you money rather than making money. Don't get too attached to them in belief that they will start converting.

    Also
Ensure you have the best merchant deal to suit your growth and cash flow.

Good luck and if you want specific help im always happy to, pm me.

    Am I missing something Magenta?

It sounds like you're being sarcastic? Are you trying to say he is lying?
A little bit of encouragement or constructive criticism goes along way, you don't seem to be providing either.

What may be obvious to you is not always obvious to others and a little help get an often go along way.

You'd be surprised at how much of a newbie I am - I'm still probably underperforming. Lets say I'm bidding on the product unsecured loans (its a similar term, with similar rates of £3-4 per lead). My page is basically an iframe application form in a pretty layout.

I've bid on everything that google suggested (including 'Unsecured Loan', 'Unsecured Loans', 'Cash Loans') at 5p a click - I've increased this to 15p a click now (and I'm experimenting today with some even higher values). Usually getting 15-20 clicks a day of which 5-10 are converting. I've got no negative keywords currently - its literally the list google suggested when I clicked 'add more'

Its only today I've implemented keyword tracking - I can finally tell what keywords are actually converting which wasn't possible till today, and I think this will help me improve conversions rapidly - those with the best conversions can have their CPC increased whilst those that don't I'll drop.

Once I get paid (first payment will be on the 20th of next month for around £400-500 hopefully), I'm planning on funnelling a lot of it back in, both in increased PPC spending, and hiring someone to help explain the SEO and PPC to me.

My background is entirely technical - CSS, PHP, HTML I can work wonders with - I'm also a whizz with the business side of things (everything I've done is spreadsheet-ised so I can see the current state of the month and predicted earnings.), so I'm quite surprised at how this has worked out - just caught a lucky break I guess
